Does CTA Recycle Bus Fareboxes And Destination Signs?

I guesss this question is about scrapping. If a sign or a farebox lasts X years ( X > 12) would CTA pull them from the buses and use them in the next new buses they purchase?

They always have. The procurement for new fare boxes has been held up for 4 or 5 years now, because CTA didn't know what it wanted (and later said that because of fare and smart cards, the fare boxes are not as overused as they had been). For instance, I thought the fare boxes in the 1972 and later New Looks were new, but after the paint peeled, it became obvious that green ones were painted beige to match the new interiors.

i know at our garage for every flyer we recieved we retured a flex, and the flyer got the flex's fairbox and cleaver device system.
