qwantae
How about bringing back Owl service on the routes that were eliminated since early 90s. Like these Routes: #4 Cottage Grove from 63rd to 94th #8 Halsted #12 Roosevelt #28 Stony Island #29 State (I doubt that because of those Housing Projects between 51st to 35th being demolished) #35 35th #47 47th #52 Kedzie/ California #66 Chicago between Pulawski and Austin #71 71st between 69th/ Red and 73rd/ Exchange #72 North Ave between Clark to Narragansett (Expansion to Harlem) #77 Belmont between Pulawski to Cumberland #80 Irving Park #85 Central #87th between Dan Ryan to 91st/ Commercial #90 Harlem #108 South Halsted (Expansion from 79th/Wentworth to 127th Via #8A) instead of #108 Any Suggestions? Busjack
Why bring this up (other than a typing exercise) without some evidence of a traffic generator that isn't being served or other evidence of potential ridership? Without that evidence, a suggestion such as 108 South Halsted is ridiculous. It is only a rush hour route now, and facing the axe if Doomsday comes. To justify most of this, you need to show that conditions have changed since the 97 cuts. Now, perhaps, there is some hospital that has a shift change at 3:00 a.m. But if that is the case, do what UPS does--pay for the bus. Though I would be happy to see a return to owl service for the 12 Roosevelt since then if I did have a late night coming home. I would only have to walk the half block to my house from the Roosevelt bus stop instead of walking the 5 to 6 blocks from the Blue Line like I current would have to now. Maybe service can be returned to the eastern half of the route, similar to how N66 Chicago runs east of Pulaski, since that portion of the route seems to busier than the western portion during the evening.
