qwantae
At Hammond, I remembered those I believed it was GMC RTS II bus I've rode on back in the late 90s. It replaced them by those Optimus/ and Blue Bird busesthat was similar to 500s. Does anyone know what model year was those RTS buses? I have few pictures of them, I'll post them on the link soon. Busjack
Chicago Transit and Railfan has a picture of what it says is a former Rhode Island RTS bus in Hammond. Having grown up in Hammond, and subsequently having visited family there, I believe that certain RTSs before that time were Gary buses loaned to Hammond or operated by GPTC. (See here for a roster of Gary buses, including RTSs). Hammond also used, roughtly in order, school buses painted brown, Thomas flat front buses (apparently owned by the then contractor), and then the Optimas. I have also recently seen (while checking out Cabela's), a trolley replica on the Indianapolis Blvd. route. While I can't verify it personally, apparently the RI buses appeared between the school buses and the Thomases.
RIPTA42
The ex-RIPTA bus appears to be one that was rebuilt by TMC in 1993, similar to the ones Keeshin had.
