  1. In the Summer of 1995, Goose Island beer ran a series of ads on the then new CTA 5800 series New Flyers. I was able to photograph one of the ads on the right hand side of a bus that read, "Just Say Goose Me! Goose Island Beer." The ads lasted about a week when they were removed by the CTA due to a so-called public outcry in regard to the inferred sexual context of the ad (double meaning). I was surprised to see that the new Goose Island Beer bus has no such statement on the side of the bus! LOL
  2. Can anyone confirm how many 2400s may be operating in the AM rush period on the Orange Line as of July 29, 2014? It is reported that no 2400s are being used in the PM rush period on the Orange Line.
  3. On July 16th, I rode 905 on route 60 from Harbor Point to Madison and Wabash at 1pm.
  4. I saw 907 in service on route 60 at 4:30pm today westbound at Randolph and Columbus Drive.
  5. I was out on the Orange Line today at the Harold Washington Library Station starting around 2:00pm and saw three sets of trains that had two 3200 series on the head end and rear end and a set of four 2600 series cars sandwiched in the middle, just as had been the case for many years with 2200s sandwiched between 2600s on the Blue Line. These three sets of 3200/2600 combos would appear to have replaced the 2400s that had been running on the Orange Line as recently as Tuesday, July 15th. No 2400s were observed on the Orange Line today at all. It would appear that the 2400s have been retired from Orange Line service and from the CTA Rapid Transit system entirely!
  6. I saw 7927 southbound on route 2 at State and Monroe at 5pm today. It looked spanking new and shiny. No ads on the sides. Really looked nice.
  7. Hi Tim, I don't know if you have found a home for the Chicago Surface Lines materials that you obtained from your Dad, but if you haven't, I would like to suggest that I and my business partner at Chicago Transport Memories, LLC have what we call the Wien-Criss Archive. We have used materials that we obtained from a number of sources to produce the DVD titled CHICAGO STREETCAR MEMORIES. You can find our website at chicago-transport-memories.com . We are always looking for new material for a book that we have been working on for CERA that will deal with Chicago streetcars. If you would consider making your materials available to us at Chicago Transport Memories, we would give you full credit for any materials that we would ultimately use in our proposed publication. So far we have been able to gather numerous publications, photos, slides, and movies from various sources. Your material is the type that we are always looking for. Sincerely, Jeff Wien
