ctaboy
Kedzie Garage has 2 articulated buses there, they got the new Hydrid buses, they got New Flyers, and again they got the 6000 Flexibles. How come they just can't bring some to Archer or 74th Garages ?
Busjack
Kezie Garage has 2 articulated buses there, they got the new Hydrid buses, they got New Flyers, and again they got the 6000 Flexibles. How come they just can't bring some to Archer or 74th Garages ?They aren't getting all the buses. They are getting maybe 300 out of 2200. Now, if you are asking why Archer had and lost 1000s, or why 74th originally didn't have 1000s and then got some from Kedzie and Chicago in return for 6000s, that may be a different question, but only one person here professes to have the answer to that (and even he admits that he doesn't have the 4000 allocation list). But if you were familiar with this forum, there are various answers, such a fleet consolidation for maintenance purposes, having enough buses equipped for Bus Tracker, wanting to try out hybrids and LED advertising downtown, equalizing the runs among garages, etc. Also, one has to remember that from the 2001 swap with Forest Glen to about 2 years ago, Kedzie had the worst junk. How come they just can't bring some to Archer or 74th Garages ? Because with the #4000's Kedzie already has #800 hybrids and are familier with how they work. It is a logical first stop. Actually if all goes according to plans Chicago will be the garage with the newest buses. They already have 200 #1000's with 35 more on the way. If they receive #4000's ( not cut in stone they could just be just receiving BRT's) that's even more yet. 74th will receive alot of displaced #1000's so they will be doing better than say a FG or Archer. jajuan
Also to put in the mix, the return of 6000s to Kedzie doesn't make it set in stone that Kedzie will hold on to them for any big length of time when it comes time for up to half of this series to be retired.
