ajcalcote1982
My ideal route reassignments would be as follows: #3 King Drive Local/#X3 King Drive Express: from 77th to 103rd #4 Cottage Grove Local/#X4 Cottage Grove Express: also from 77th to 103rd #9 Ashland Local/#X9 Ashland Express: from 74th to Archer #71 71st/South Shore: from 77th to 103rd #84 Peterson: from Forest Glen to North Park #92 Foster: also from Forest Glen to North Park, since one other route not assigned to Forest Glen serves Jefferson Park Blue Line terminal Thank you. Busjack
My ideal route reassignments would be as follows: #3 King Drive Local/#X3 King Drive Express: from 77th to 103rd #4 Cottage Grove Local/#X4 Cottage Grove Express: also from 77th to 103rd #9 Ashland Local/#X9 Ashland Express: from 74th to Archer With regard to the first two, you are leaving 77th virtually empty (especially since 29 was moved out). Also The 9 ones greatly deplete 74th, while Archer is reportedly overcrowded. It might cut down some deadheading (as did the 8 move to Kedzie), but probably not much. The way things go now, if you move something out of a garage, you have to move the equivalent back in.
geneking7320
I was thinking that the 77th Garage might be closer to routes 3 and 4 [measure along 79th Street to the Wentworth entrance] than the 103rd Garage is to those routes [measured from their 95th street terminals].Considering these factors, I've wondered why #29 State was moved to 103rd Garage. Gene KingI didn't understand moving 29, either, except there might have been a philosophy of each garage gets 260 buses, no matter what. 77 had a net loss of routes. However, you can at least do relief from 103rd at the 95th St. Red Line, as undoubtedly that is one of the purposes of 106. Especially since 4 was cut back to 94th, no way to get a relief from 103rd there. Obviously, the 79 bus can be used to get relief to 3, 4, and 6 (which is probably why 6 is not from 103, either). There have always been strange ones from a proximity basis, such as 24 formerly having its loop at Beverly, even though it was a 77 route, and 92 passing by North Park (which I still contend is not optimally located, not that one could do anything about that). jacksone44
I dont like the idea of splitting bus routes between garages. Biggest example are the downtown circulators, of which I think all the runs should come out of Kedzie.
