Kevin
Yesterday the Holiday Train derailed just north of Sedgwick by North Ave. I find this odd considering two years ago--the last time the Holiday Train contained the flatbed Santa car--the train derailed in the exact same spot! Apparently there's something about this type of car configuration that causes problems on that curve. Photos at Gapers Block.
sw4400
I'm not suprised. The CTA, IMO needs to rethink the Santa Train Layout. It seems like each year this happens. They should either shorten up the length of the train or get rid of that Flatcar and have Santa or a group of Santas in each rail car. Just a thought.... MetroShadow
Funny thing seeing, I was right there on the North Avenue bus when the train had "jumped", but I'm not suprised that the layout and the design of the tracks equaled 'disaster'....although yesterday, it started to run again. venom_20
Why don't they just use a regular car? All they have to do is make it a display car, and make sure the doors don't open at any stops. Is this flatbed car a heavy-duty train car?
