artthouwill
Just was looking at Metro Magazine's Top 100 Bus Fleet list. I was surprised that PACE has the third largest fleet (number of buses) and CTA was 6th. I find that surprising. http://www.metro-magazine.com/resources/Images/MET09-Top100.pdf

Busjack
They have included all the paratransit vehicles which is why there are 1,963 vehicle below 35'wheras only 223 of them are service buses. Undoubtedly, paratransit is the reason, but the service bus number would be 337 (223 30 foot and 114 35 foot, as the classification is 35 foot or under). Looking back at the 2010 budget, I get a total of 1919 vehicles, including vanpool, paratransit, and community vehicles for Oct. 2009,* so to get it up to Metro's 2392, they must also be including equipment owned by the private paratransit contractors in Chicago. __________ *The 25 Joliet ElDorados were not in that budget's list.
