MetroShadow Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 Looks like ABC (Vanhool’s distributor) is returning with a COR. Announcement was at APTA; very limited details, however, with a prototype in 2027 and production in 28. https://www.sustainable-bus.com/news/abc-companies-launches-cor-transit-brand/?fbclid=IwdGRjcAUxVgZleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBwZG9mBWZkaWQWUPxI56JX_9sqnj4SAdzHMp_svOUqX3NydGMGYXBwX2lkCjY2Mjg1NjgzNzkAAR55LmHf6kTkSyQPo9CnrjvGpXKThqAQRCnLuIdofh9niJXibD5ERKOs9uMOdw_aem_IW00udqKTWR_kEElxd2t8g 1 Quote

The topic sentence is: "North American bus and motorcoach distributor and service provider ABC Companies has launched COR Transit, a new U.S.-focused heavy-duty transit bus brand, with a 40-foot diesel bus targeted for prototype activity in 2027 and first deliveries in 2028." No mention of at least an advanced hybrid or electric bus, even though NF, Gillig, and ENC advertise multiple propulsion systems. While it says Van Hool has a battery bus, it also said Van Hool went bankrupt and it apparently picked up some of the assets. Maybe they think COR will be another Neoplan USA, but that didn't work out so well. Then it says: "The company appointed former Proterra CCO John Walsh as Chief Commercial Officer in 2026." That doesn't look good, either. I might have underestimated ENC, but this doesn't look promising. 1 Quote
Mr.Transit Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 No one mentioned Vin Fast another bus manufacturer who wants to enter the US market...any options? 1 Quote

Mr.Transit Posted October 7 Report Posted October 7 I only know what I read in both Mass Transit and Metro magazine...all I can say is the front design of it is very ugly looking. Quote

There's a limited market for short buses (let alone one with alternative fuels), so that VinFast 8 might work? 1 Quote

I'm not sure you mean of buyers or sellers, but with such things as Pace apparently giving up on 30 foot buses (feeders dead, Niles going to paratransit buses, and recent orders for the collar counties being for 35 ft. Gilligs), I don't think there is enough margin to set up manufacturing here. But for some lagniappe (maybe you should expand your topic, but anyway): On the mini-electric bus front, Damera was at APTA. If transit authorities can't trust a Proterra, how can one trust a bus from Vietnam? But then, one can apparently buy a VinFast automobile in Lisle, IL. But getting back to COR Transit, the only things we learned from the ABC Companies press conference at APTA were that they had a display board that looked lik a cross between a bus and a convenience store, nd the reason it is called COR is that it is owned by the Cornell family. 1 Quote
