wordguy
This time they're transplants from North Park: 1591 and 1593. Both are operating this evening on Ashland. They've now joined their companions 1580 and 1582, which emigrated from 103rd. My guess is that there was no swap involved. They've probably been sent to 74th to relieve a bus shortage there. As far as I can tell, 74th recently gave up 1751-1760 to NP, as well as a few low 6000s to Kedzie to fill in for the loss of NABIs at those garages. I don't believe they received anything in return at that time. But the fact that those four buses are in the same numerical range, both odd and even, leads me to believe that the CTA Dance of the Buses isn't letting up for a while. Once there's no longer a shortage at 74th, we'll probably be looking at a swap again. Maybe some of the 6000s will be spread around the system. Who knows??? For whatever it's worth: I can't help wondering if the folks in charge of this ongoing equipment shuffle aren't being a tad obsessive-compulsive. Maybe the odd-even distribution of buses (which made perfect sense back in 2007) offends their sense of order now.

Busjack
BusTracker had all of 1580-1589 on 74th routes. But apparently this continues.

But apparently this continues. they should have more than that because kedzie got thier 6000-6005 back and 103rd is going to take 1082-1086.so np need to hand over more buses or 103rd because 74th has been the odd garage out for the longest,as if they could go everyday holding runs in because there is no buses. dann
I think I saw 1591 on NB Ashland this morning. I also see 1595 on BusTracker. I guess more northside buses are headed south. #9 Ashland can use them, those buses always seem to be packed.
