sw4400
I was waiting for a 80 Irving Park to Harlem bus a couple days ago, when a X80 Irving Park Express to Blue Line stops for a red light and lets a few people on and off. After closing the doors the Automated Destination Announcer keeps saying "Route X80 Irving Park Express to O'Hare Blue Line...." and it kept saying it over and over. I'm glad I didn't have to take that bus. Has anyone been on a bus that malfunctioned like this? And what does the driver do to fix this problem? geneking7320
This is the first time I've heard of such a malfunction. I have ridden buses from 77th Garage where the passenger signal (bell) rang repeatedly on its own. I have a feeling the driver may not be able to fix the announcement problem. The announcement itself is likely due to ADA regs and the ability to shut off the announcement may be governed those regulations.
CTA 9537
The driver has a button to make the announcement repeat. I was on a Sheridan bus going to union station at Adams and Wacker and he was playing with it and made Wacker repeat about 10 times an everybody on the bus started craking up. So the drivers do have fun with it.
Kevin
On some rare occasions the exterior announcement will get stuck and repeat itself multiple times. Normally this problem will correct itself either when the next interior announcement is made or when the doors are next opened.
