andrethebusman
Metra 8701 seen this past week. This one has been bought back from a dealer, no less! There are undoubtedly others. Dealer Midwest Transportation & Development Corp bought a large group.
transit kid 12
I recently saw an ex-cnw car with black and orange stripes on the front and back, but I didn't get the number. Could this have been 8701? Funny thing is it was on the BNSF.
busfan2847
Black and orange stripes are probably ex MARC cars from their 7900-11 batch returned in mid-2015. Ones identified so far on UP lines are 7882 and 7883 (which are ex Rock Island) which have orange side stripes instead of red. I think the MARC cars are 9 out of the 10 Rock Island Cars 7867-7871 (trailers), 7881-7885 (trailers converted cab cars) and 3 ex C&NW cars from the 7802-7866 batch. Pace831
I rode one of the ex-MARC cars on the Heritage Corridor today. It still had MARC signage and safety booklets as well as someone's old MARC ticket from 2011. I like this car because the ledge under the window is flat so I can rest my arm on it. The seats are the same as most other Metra cars. The one problem was the position behind the locomotive, so you are breathing in diesel fumes the whole time.
