JolietJakeCTA
Powertrain breakdown in regards to the 5300s and 6000s Flxibles: 5300-5739, 5766-5770: Detroit Diesel 6V92TA DDEC / Allison VR731 ATEC (some of these may have ZF transmissions, please clarify) 5740-5744: Detroit Diesel 6L71TA DDEC / Allison VR731 ATEC 5745-5754: Cummins L10 / ZF 4HP590 5755-5765: Cummins L10 / Voith D863.2-W7 6000-6304: Detroit Diesel Series 50 DDEC / ZF 5HP590 6305-6329: Cummins M11 CELECT / ZF 5HP590 I'd suspect the 5300 series order CTA bought was perhaps the largest single order of Flxibles in the post-Grumman years. Again, is it true the earliest Flxibles with the ZF transmissions were 4-speeds + torque converter while the 6000s had 5-speeds + torque converter? On Voith transmissions, the torque converter is integral. ~Ben (JolietJakeCTA)

Guest
The #5300 series CTA Flxible/Cummins buses were numbered #5745-5764. All of them had the exhaust pipe on the rear left upper corner. The RTS buses CTA operated had the exhaust pipe on the bottom.
