What Chicago's 600 DE60LF's may look like?

King County Metro's new order of DE60LF's are finally making their rounds around Seattle. I spotted two today, but was only able to take one crappy cellphone shot.

They're using the Cummins ISL engines instead of the Caterpillar C9 engines from KCM's previous order. But something that struck me as odd on these new DE60LF's is that they seem to have an enlarged pack on the front of the bus with electric cabling running towards the Hybrid pack on the trailer of the artic.

Sorry to disappoint anyone concerned with aesthetics, but the buses we received had New Flyer's old aesthetics, rather than the revised look. Not sure if it'll be the same with Chicago.

Does Metro still run any electric trolley buses in the tunnel?

^^ No Trolleys in tunnel anymore. There are 236 Metro and 22 Sound Transit hybrids that have a special 'tunnel-mode' operation. The 236 Breda Trolleys were scraped, although 59 of them were converted for regular trolley operation (on routes 7, 43, 44, and 49)

Highly paid amateurs.

I agree with you there. There were typos that shouldn't have been there, and the page listing the FG routes going live on the 23rd was disorganized with the routes not even given in proper order. The previous page had commas in the route names where there should have been slashes or dashes. All that money they're paid and they can't even proofread their work? I hope he wasn't showing this presentation to any big government honchos city or otherwise this time around.

No problem. Tcmetro already answered your question, but in case you were wondering about the overhead wires indicating trolley presence, those are actually overhead for light-rail cars. On the tail-end of the tunnel, they still have tons of overhead trolley wires that they haven't removed.

It seems like these new buses are based out of Tukwila Garage. I have seen pics of them on the 101 on flickr, so they will probably run the 101, 106, 150, 174, 194, and possibly others like 120 and 152.

Link to that flickr?

Anyways they may not run it on the 120, as they've been consistently using D60LFs on that route. However, I have noticed that they occasionally take away some of those D60LFs and put them on the 48 route, leaving D60HFs to fill some 120 runs.
