Really weird CTA bus

I was cruising New York sites to find out information about the takeover of private bus lines, and found a discussion group with a picture of CTA bus 3091, that looks like a MAN articulated in front, has Flyer windows, and a Flxible rear end. See http://www.bustalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=88. What's up with that?

Interesting. As that forum thread says, apparently it was some wierd plan to rebuild the Flxible New Looks. It appears to be at Skokie Shops and is used as a work bus.

After viewing the pics from Busjack, I'd say this bus has an MAN artic front, a Flyer D901 40ft body and a Flxible new look rear (from the roof to the bottom of the window).

AS I understand it it wasn't a prototype rebuild but a body shop exercise.  Never saw revenue service, not sure if it ever even had seats, not flyer sides but Flyer windows (Flx version of the "Classic")
