CircleSeven Posted August 31 Report Posted August 31 The NITA website just went live within an hour or so. It’s pretty much the same RTA site. All they’ve done was swapped the gray look for the light blue/dark blue (bottom of the site), the urls, and the logo on the header. 2 1 Quote

Besides the url being on illinois.gov, the Board of Directors page has all of the appointments. It's going to take some time to decipher the interlocking appointments. I also wonder how permanent the logo is, but I'm sure one of the first orders of business for the service boards will be ordering new decals. Quote

Personally, I think .gov makes sense, since it isn't a commercial or charitable entity, but I thought that, until recently, .gov was restricted to the federal government. Maybe something like nita.il.us would make more sense, but the .us domain never caught on. 1 Quote

Essentially why I thought "they eventually will come up with something better than that." I could do that with MacDraw about 35 years ago. Another snide comment on my part: The rta dumped its 50-year-old logo and developed a new one (only vehicles carrying it are those with new Pace wraps) just in time to go out of business. 1 Quote

A genuine human being must be listed as the contact person. Just about every other domain registrar with which you can obtain a W-WW domain name (I use Porkbun for my W-WW domain.) will register you with a "domains by privacy" facet; such that, if someone wants to learn who is the person maintaining the W-WW site, they will have to make a proper request to the privacy provider.. This deflects a would-be person who wants to complain about the content being presented by that domain from making a spurious takedown claim. Quote

Again, notwithstanding this verbiage, there is a simple answer who the registrars are: il.us (Illinois Century Network; i.e. the state), and .gov (America's Cyber Defense Agency). The latter says: "Unlike the other domains, .gov is reserved exclusively for U.S.-based government organizations. Only verified federal, state, local, tribal or territorial (SLTT) entities can register for it. " So, NITA piggybacked on the more secure domain. As far as "takedown requests," it doesn't appear that members of the public are posting copyrighted material to any .gov site. Quote

That new branding went so hard. I don't think anyone would complain if they reused it. The lowercase "n" and "i" letterforms are very compatible. Quote
