Quick question about the Fixibles (5300) being retired

What's the difference? The Flxibles are thigetting retired and is a very sad time Cfor the CTA and its busfans, but mainly for us who enjoy riding them.

Tell me about it, I having a good day today, I've rode couple 5300s (5381 and 5655) on #12 Roosevelt and 5414 on X54 Cicero Exp, and of course my TMC #4414 on 151 Sheridan in Downtown. But I barely see the ones from 103rd, I think that they are still retiring those, I am gettin pictures of them now. I am going to miss them badly, I dont even care for 6000s that much. I wish that 5300s and 6000s had those double front doors like mostly Flxibles like Blue Line 2200s (Budd).

A while ago on another thread I mentioned how I'd seen a few Flx 5300s being towed northbound on State St (to be scrapped). Today on another forum someone made mention that a scrapper on Cortland near Clybourn has done some scrapping of CTA buses. This past Sunday I happened to be in the Arhaus furniture store [at Cortland(?) and Clybourn] and I could see the scrapyard out the window. I didn't see any buses though. Hope this helps.

Chicago and Kedzie are not in the process of retiring their Flxibles at this time; only 103rd is. So this information would be nonessential at this point because 103rd does not send its 5300s to Courtland/Clybourn to get scrapped, but it will become interesting in a few months or more when Chicago and Kedzie actually start giving up their 5300s. By the way, what is with you and arguing? I was only putting a thought into this whole new discussion.

I just realized that Chicago wasn't retiring a whole lot of Fixibles right now (they are actually retiring 1 or 2 every couple of weeks or something like that. I know this because I know a driver who works out of Chicago). Of course 103rd wouldn't send it's Flxibles all the way up there unless they wanted to drive all that distance.

By the way, what is with you and arguing? I was only putting a thought into this whole new discussion.

First of all, I meant that I wasn't in no mood to debate with you over this topic like you do all the time. Secondly, I was mainly asking the CTA workers who are on here, but then again, maybe I should have put only CTA workers :P.

Chicago Garage hasn't been retiring a large quantity of Flxibles for over 1/2 of a year now. Secondly, me debating topics is not a bad thing. Isn't this board all about debating topics that have to do with public transit? Finally, my biggest point, if you know a bus driver out of Chicago, then why would you ask us about the topic? Just ask him/her.I think that a driver would know what is going on with the retirement process or just have an idea. And if you put mainly CTA workers or only CTA workers, it wouldn't stop me from posting what I think about the Flxible retirement.

I haven't been able to talk with the driver in a week, but when I see him Friday, i'll ask him. I was really trying to find out about where 103rd's and 77th's flxibles are going anyway.

If a bus is fixible you can fix it. But then again, Flxible corporation would not care for any mispellings of their name because it ceased bus production over a decade ago. Finally, 77th's Flxibles were retired completely a year ago; therefore, 103rd would be the only garage retiring them at this time.

Well, I personally I didn't like pointing out mistakes before, but it seems that everyone on this board likes to do that so I'm just going with the flow. I did indeed notice the "Flxible" mistakes a very long time ago, but I had no intentions to bring them up on this board, but rmadisonwi decided to point it out to you, so I guess you can't debate this with me.

Well, technically, the spelling would be "fixable," not "fixible." I was just making a light joke. No need to take things so seriously.

Actually, you didn't exclude me. I was referring to me posting on this topic which you are in no position to stop. By the way, if you think the "Fixible" joke was offending, then what kind of joke wouldn't be offending to you?

It's my thread, I have that right (unless if the administors say it's not, then i'll back off, but I rest my case for now). A joke that wouldn't be offending to me is a joke that doesn't include my mistakes, or me for that matter.

103 is not retiring all their 5300s. I ride one literally everyday on 103 routes. If want to ride one just go to 95th/Redline and one will eventually show up.

Right. Every time I go to visit friends on the South Side, I see them on both the 28 and X28 as well as on the 15 Jeffery Local. I may see them less frequently than I did before, but they are still there.

Certainly they are. Everyday on the 2, I see at least ten 5300s on the 2 (not very often), 26, 28, X28, and 15.
