Last evening, I've was riding the Orange line to downtown, before 35/Archer Stop, I've spotted an Brokedown Optima I believe it was #513 sitting getting towed on Westbound Archer/ Western in from of KFC/ Jewel. Was it an Archer bus, I thought it was 103rd/ U of C bus or what was it doing there?

I believe I'm wrong, but it could be a 168 UIC-Pilsen Express route; it runs from LaGrange Road to Ashland by the Stevenson Expressway, and it could've broken down somewhere along the line and came down to Archer/Western. Again, I believe this is not correct, but it's just my guess.

#513 is based out of Archer now. 103rd gave Archer their Optimas.

So far we have Optimas #500-544. Whatever happened to the 125 Optima bus order?

There won't be no more buses coming, they ordered enough.

I thought you didn't like the Optima's. Anyway, like Buslover88 says, the next option was never exercised. I think a mistake. CTA could've used them though. FG could use way more, Plus Evanston could use those buses back, but there not going to get it. Also in today's age of higher gas prices, they would've helped the CTA to save money on gas. Also this could've helped the CTA to retire the #6000's in totality. They could've had an all low floor fleet. Now by the time a bus purchase agreement is ironed out and the buses are delivered that's at least two years away. So a chance passes by, opportunity knocks but no one is home. I don't understand why Archer doesn't seem to be running those in the Midway corridor, they even recently took them off the #39. The U of C doesn't need 32 buses. Archer only seems to use 5 Optima's a day on it's non- U of C routes. Such an excessive amount of those over there seems to be a waste of cheaper buses doing nothing.

True, Im not a particular fan of the Optimas but I was still curious about this. If we had to operate 30 footers I would rather we have New Flyer models. But not my choice I guess!!. :)

Look at the date that he made that sighting though. It was back in December, three months before 513 and its fellow Optimas from 103rd were transferred to Archer. So at that time, it would have been an out of place sighting.

Yeah, long before Archer received the Optimas, but still to this date, still pretty mysterious for a broken down Optima at 35/Archer, Western/Archer area at that time. -_-

If only we knew the route it was on, then we wouldn't have to debate so far about this! :P
