Nova #6764

I was supposed that #6764 Nova belongs to Forest Glen, but this afternoon I've seen that bus going southbound Lake Shore Drive overpass 47th Street working #10 Museum, the run box has a 7 on it, is that bus now belong to 77th? I really wish that 103rd would get some Novas, and give Forest Glen some of their New Flyers.

Am I the only one who has learned not to post highly questionable reports without something such as a photo as evidence of the report? #6764 has been assigned to Forest Glen for the first five years of it being in service (2002-2007). If you want us to believe otherwise, a photo is neccesary. Also, if you did not have a chance to take a photo, then tough luck. Or maybe you were at a farther distance and did not see the number clearly. Please explain.

No need to be so harsh. I know certain things are questionable, but no need to bitch at someone.

You need to stop being so harsh to the members. So what if they don't have a photo? I for one am not happy with this post at all and I won't even tell Danielsmusic to watch his language.

I believe you, qwantae. I haven't seen #6764 on a Forest Glen route for at least 2 weeks now. However, I disagree that Forest Glen should get New Flyers.

I don't understand. What's so harsh about me questioning some of the members' reports? And I wasn't bitching at qwantae. I was only asking if he had a photo to prove his report, or if he just didn't have a chance to take a photo. Why does it always happen that my questioning of a report turns inot a dissing arguement? Don't yiou realize that I'm not intending to diss or insult anyone; I'm just looking into some of the reports that really need a photo as proof.

You may not have intended to insult anyone, but your posts at times do come off rather harsh such as the one in this thread did. I wanted to tell you off myself when I first saw it. And not everyone's going to be walking around with a camera to snap a pic every time they see something interesting concerning CTA vehicles.

And as for qwantae's sighting, if it wasn't a complete reassignment, it possibly could have been a loaner.

I don't know what there is to learn. If someone sees something, is it highly questionable?

Also, speak for yourself when demanding a photo as "proof" (you said "If you want us to believe otherwise, a photo is neccesary (sic).") Are you the belief police? Folks on this forum are free to believe or not believe whatever they want, with or without photographic evidence.

I don't have any inside information as to why some buses wound up on 77th's roster, and don't feel like making whatever calls are necessary to find out (because it's really not that important to me). The guess that I (and a couple of others at work) had was that the four Novas (now three, one was sent back) were probably at South Shops and 77th just commandeered them for a while. I figure they must be short of buses, because North Park's first batch of 1000s (1226-1236) got sent back to 77th, along with a couple of buses from other garages.

Those three Novas will probably go back to Forest Glen at some point (or maybe they won't), but for the time being, they are shown as assigned to 77th Garage.

I agree.

Thank you for all of this information, rmadison. Were #6400-6408 transfered back to 77th from Chicago as well?

Bustracker shows 6403 on Madison at the moment.

Apparently buses will be shuffled. Also, one would assume that 1226-1236 were loaners to NP, and theoretically back at 77th, not that it makes much difference.

Like I've said, wait 3 weeks, unless Springfield does something. You can bet that 74th won't be running leaky 6000s while brand new 1200s are locked up at 77th, unless something really strange is going on.

That I can agree with. We would hope the CTA would at least have that much sense.

Wont happen, Too much ©overing (T)hat (A)ss at CTA. Management is so lousy, no one wants to be accountable. Doomsday will happen. It will be the responsibility of all parties involved. May as well let Jesse Jackson solve the transit issue.

well I'd say that's a bit harsh. Yes CTA management has been totally screwed in the past but I will say there have been some improvements. Is everything squeaky and rosy? No of course not, but they do deserve some credit. The implementation of weekday crosstown express routes, the Northside/Evanston/Skokie changes, the Lakeshore corridor changes, the Westside corridor changes come to mind. Though Huberman is far from perfect, he has found some more efficient ways to use the money that's already at hand and is streamlining some operations in the main office. And he actually does use the service that he's in charge of providing. And if doomsday does happen it will be because it will moreso be because of people in Springfield who have bloated salaries of their own and don't use public transit so thus continue to think they can get away with not taking the issue seriously. If they can't take it seriously then it's high time to vote the bums out, both Democrat and Republican, come November 2008.
