I know the ISL is supposed to be more efficient than ISM and thus more powerful, so it could all just be the engine itself. Another questions and possible of information to add. 1000-1429 and 1430-1629 (are undoubtedly ISM)...but why do they sound different and why do they drive a little different? Of course, the 1430-1629 series proves to be a lil more powerful than the 1000-1429 series...but they sound different...anyone know? The lower number ISM flyers are louder and the engines sound has more bass in it...and the higher number ISM flyers are quieter with of course, less bass. We don't have the ISM on any 40 footers up here, just ISL. However, the ISLs built to EPA07 emission regulations are quieter and unfortunately slower on acceleration than those built under the EPA04 regulations. daerah Posted October 5, 2009 Report Share Posted October 5, 2009 The ISLs are somewhat faster...depending on what particular bus (number) it is...and then again, some of the ISMs are even faster, on the take off. For example...I believe 77th Garage, has the best fine-tuned 1200-1300s....their buses get up and go, without delay or hesitation... Ive noticed with the ISLs...when the CHECK ENGINE light comes on..9 out of 10 times...its probably just computer taking a bleep/break and the bus takes off faster, and run at higher rpms, and overall goes faster...when the CHECK ENGINE light goes off...it slows down and operates normally. Still kind of fast, but not quite as FAST as it was, when the warning light was on/ computer wasnt regulating the rpm/epa stuff. With the ISMs...when the CHECK ENGINE light comes on...I dont notice it going faster..I guess it means, something actually is wrong. lol Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
