Busjack
Pace has a solicitation for a contractor to run the Rosemont Circulator. From the solicitation, it is apparently a free bus, although Pace reserves the right to charge fares, and will be run with 2 Pace paratransits. Busjack
i don't think they need it.Just extend the hours of Route 326 to serve it. It is essentially an entertainment connector and undoubtedly funded by Rosemont, which has the money. Other than stopping at the Rosemont CTA station, I don't see any connection. Certainly Rosemont is not going to pay to run a rush hour bus 7 days a week into Schiller Park and Norridge, including to 3 a.m. Fri and Sat nights (assuming that's what 26:56 means). By the same token, the Schaumburg Trolley isn't "necessary," but Pace convinced Schaumburg to fund it, at least now to the extent of 3 days a week. And certainly it isn't the "personal transit" that the RTA tried to establish in Rosemont in the early 90s.

twyztdmynd
OK... dig this... Extending 234 to cover 230's trip to Rosemont. Cancel 230. Giving cta's 69 to Pace. Extend new 69 aka "269" to cover proposed Rosemont Connector via Higgins.

Extend new 69 aka "269" to cover proposed Rosemont Connector via Higgins. Anything could be and probably is interlined at Des Plaines Metra. However, it appears (from tracking fleet numbers) that 230 is already interlined with 326 at the Rosemont CTA. In addition, there are the rush hour 230 trips over the former 231 to west Des Plaines (Algonquin-Linneman via Thacker/Dempster). And, as I mentioned before, 722 is not a Rosemont connector, but a local circulator. I suppose one could come up with some way of interlining the Niles Free Bus with 208 or 270 (and throw in the Schaumburg Trolley with 208), but that would make about as much sense as making 722 something it is not. Update: I forgot to mention that 234 is already interlined with 209, as reflected in the 209 and 234 schedules (H trips).

BusHunter
Does anyone know how the route is going to be? Sounds like a trumped up #222. But I would imagine it would hit all the hot spots in town. Convention Center, Casino (Des Plaines), Allstate Arena, Hotel districts etc. But some of those places have free shuttles themselves, so I don't know how successful this will be or will #222 remain, but you would think the Allstate arena passenger traffic would overwhelm a paratransit. Nope. Only Rosemont CTA,* the Muvico and MB Park area around the Tollway and Balmoral, an outlet mall being constructed on the other side of Balmoral and the Tollway, and the Convention Center, newport can verify that. ___ *Correction. While it might be ok for hotel shuttles. It missing people to serve. Like Route 250 and 330.Also,O'Hare Metra station. Your adding time to the trip when you have to take the monorail to terminal 1,then the blue line to Rosemont station. If it went to the monorail station it would solve it. mkohut
Even if that is/was the case, and as an O/T, The Rosemont Circulator signs are up (and that should address that "issue"). 303, as an addition, also gets people to the airport from Forest Park and the West Side, without having to through-route the loop (that's if you don't live close enough to the 330). The Rosemont Circulator is Route 722 that Rosemont is paying for there night life area and possiblely of the Rosemont Cubs. The bids were put out last year. Busjack
You left out it has some service with 326 during rush hours. I was referring only to the free shuttle. I suppose that by this reasoning, the Niles Free Bus is superfluous, but Niles hasn't come to that decision. Also, the 326 schedule indicates only a trip to a particular office building on Balmoral, not serving the new entertainment district and outlet mall. ctrabs74
Apparently it is starting slow, as the original proposal was something like 20 hour service. Only lunch now. According to the article, however, once that new mall opens up in August, service will expand to 12 hours per day on (at least) weekdays. So, the mid-day only service appears to be just a soft roll-out of the 810, if I'm reading the article correctly. Tcmetro
This will be quite nice, especially if it will enter the CTA station. Despite the presence of rapid transit, the entire area is hostile to walking, which doesn't make much sense, IMO.
Busjack
To get it in the correct thread: According to the article, however, once that new mall opens up in August, service will expand to 12 hours per day on (at least) weekdays. So, the mid-day only service appears to be just a soft roll-out of the 810, if I'm reading the article correctly. PACE Route 810: Rosemont Lunchtime Circulator Apparently they changed the number, which is why a search for 722 didn't work. If one wants to get technical, it should have been either a 700 as a contractor route or a 900 as a municipal shuttle. I also suppose that one could walk from timepoint 4 to the casino, but that isn't why Rosemont is paying for this.

mkohut
IYCMI: Route 811: Entertainment District. No Casino. If you look at Route 810 its close by there during lunch. Busjack
IYCMI: Route 811: Entertainment District. No Casino. This looks more like the proposed 722 than 810 did (i.e. running to 3 a.m. on Fri. and Sat.). Since there are two routes, I agree with mk about the purpose. The lunch one is to handle the office workers in the area between Devon and Higgins, while the entertainment one is essentially only to handle MB Park and the Fashion Outlets. Similar to when Schaumburg had both the 205 and 905 shuttles.
ctrabs74
Thread bump: Does the 811 shuttle stop at all posted stops (ie. stops for other PACE routes) along the route or just as the specific timepoints? I'm tentatively planning to stay at one of the hotels along the route (Bryn Mawr and River) and my girlfriend and I may spend Friday night at the MB complex and this would be a convenient connector for us rather than walking over there. Posted Stops. You might catch a flag, but from my experience, its a better bet that you go to a bus stop. Then again, if you are at a hotel nearby, the walk might be necessary without taking the bus.
