Washington, DC's Metro which bumped Chicago's CTA from second to third is previewing their proposed rail car. Washington's system uses a 75 ft. length, 10 ft. width for their railcars which come with operational capability of plus 75 MPH. Currently they have imposed a top speed of 59 MPH. Washington also is currently operating a series of cars deemed unsafe due to their tendancy to telescope in head-on crashes. Here is a video found on YouTube. Mr. Claypool, please note that their traverse seats are NOT mounted to the floor.

In fact, Mr. Claypool notes nothing.

What seemed obvious was (1) most of the seats were transverse, and (2) the high def map screens sure make the CTA ones with the dirty map over the dots look real cheap.

The CTA is still the 2ND largest agency in the U.S.,, but Washington Metro is the.2nd largest rail transit system behind New York and Chicago CTA rail is 3rd.

Are these Bombardier built cars? They look similar to NY's subway cars save the transverse seating.

They even have FIND's on the 7000's, which (if you include the HD maps) make the 5000's really uninspiring.

I think those cars are built by Kawasaki. They are even more advanced than CTA's 5000 Series Bombardier rail cars.
