twyztdmynd
I was reading on a Facebook post in Metra Rail group that Metra locomotives 204 and 205 may have been involved in an accident. In Sherwood Tennessee, A Train derailed caring soybean and lumber. However, it was also hauling the two locomotives bound for Progress Rail. Now I was skeptical at first. But in the news article, you can see the front end of 204. 205 was facing a different direction behind 204 and is not seen in the photo. Complete details are sketchy but you can judge for yourself. If you look in the second photo of the attached to link, you can see, in the upper left-hand corner, what is presumed 204. http://www.heraldchronicle.com/trail-derails-near-sherwood/
richii0909
Yeah I saw it in the background. The story is more than likely true as they have been rehabbing the 200 range locomotives. I wonder how bad of shape they are in.
trainman8119
You can see 205 under the pile. It is probably finished. (From Andrew Bandur's Facebook post on Metra Rail page.)

(From Andrew Bandur's Facebook post on Metra Rail page.) Yes, it's there. But if it was going in for remanufacturing, it probably doesn't make any difference. CSX would be financially liable for any additional damage.
andrethebusman
According to law, when a railroad damages another railroad's equipment, it has to repair, replace, or buy out same. If it is unrepairable, CSX will either pay off Metra the value or send Metra a replacement locomotive (of some sort but equal value). There have been cases where a railroad wrecks a foreign locomotive, pays off the owner, then rebuilds the wreck for their own use, and this is totally legit.
