Nabinut Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Over the past four days, i have been to 4 major cities in a mid-atlantic and Midwest swing trip via Amtrak and Megabus so here are some photos from Chicago on Monday and Tuesday: 95th and State On Clark via 22 & 36 On Archer On Michigan Quote
Nabinut Posted September 24, 2006 Author Report Posted September 24, 2006 Day2 covered Dan Ryan, walks on Clark and Archer and a run through Downtown 4564: 1991 TMC RTS-06 6220 at Halsted Orange line Station 5491 on Michigan Avenue in Downtown 7600 Series on Columbus with Downtown Skyline in Background Three Nabi artics Northbound on State 5370 with Orange Tape cover Quote
Busjack Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Very good pictures. 5739? indicates a former Archer bus on a 77 Garage route, and you probably took advantage of the last chance to get some 5300s. I see, looking at your albums, that you got nearly everything of Pace, except a white NABI and an ElDorado. You did catch some of the rare ones, including a couple of shots of a 2100. The MCI (6905) with a bike on it just hits me as too weird. (Who wants a bike hanging on the front of the bus riding on the expressway? Except, with the construction on the Dan Ryan, maybe riding the bike is faster.) Your CTA pictures are also very illustrative of the number of CTA buses with nonworking signs, but I guess that is how it is. Quote
rmadisonwi Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 I see you also managed to make it to the Orion graveyard in Milwaukee. Man those were good buses, retired a year or two too early, IMO. Quote
rmadisonwi Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 One other question I have is, how many people were on the Megabus trips you rode? Quote
Nabinut Posted September 24, 2006 Author Report Posted September 24, 2006 The Orion Graveyard i purely stumbled across just taking a random bus #23 toward the Northside of the city. As for Megabus, it was 8 going to Milwaukee and 6 coming back to Chicago...Cleveland was 16 By the way, these are just the digitals, i have slides-which has more and better shots-but i won't have them for a week or so Quote
busfan4022 Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 What was this bus doing in NYC? Oh and i like your pics very much! Quote
MetroShadow Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Most buses were sold to different bus companies, usually NYC or Robinson Coach here in Chicago, for operation with charter services. Now correct me if I am wrong, buses that were sent from Dallas here (DART) are used for Colonial Coach/Pioneer Coach buses? Quote
Nabinut Posted September 25, 2006 Author Report Posted September 25, 2006 Hey, you found one of my photos of a Ex-Pace Orion I, This bus is used by a comapny servicing Jewish passengers who don't ride local transit, there are 3 of them: 8831, 8856 & 8864 Quote

busfan4022 Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 You did catch some of the rare ones, including a couple of shots of a 2100. Actuallly there not that rare, you can catch them on certain days of the week on the 215, if your patient enough. Quote
cta6085 Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 I Have Photos From This Past Year 5667 About To Enter 103rd Garage 5658 On The 34 South Michigan 6088 Leaving 103rd 6080 At 103rd Turnaround 4582 Parked At 103rd Quote
trainman8119 Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Actuallly there not that rare, you can catch them on certain days of the week on the 215, if your patient enough. Actually, very rare indeed, since there are only a couple of 2100's left !!!!!! Quote
busfan4022 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Actually, very rare indeed, since there are only a couple of 2100's left !!!!!! Only 2? I thought there were more! Quote
trainman8119 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Actual 2100's ...probably only a couple to a few...2-3-4, doesn't matter. There are a very short supply around. If you figure in the 2300's...that would increase the number of Orion I's...but the original series which went to 2128...not much left. Quote
Busjack Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 As far as North Shore, 2122, 2125, and 2128. So, about 3 out of 45 buses. And 215 runs 3 buses. I'm sure you in the academies can figure out the probabilities and permutations, factoring in that their usual place is 626, but might show up elsewhere. Quote
Nabinut Posted September 26, 2006 Author Report Posted September 26, 2006 I must have lucked out as i rode on 2125 Monday afternoon on the 215. The bus ran pretty good for it's age Quote
RIPTA42 Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 Your telling me, that 3 Orions are riding in NYC to serve the Jewish? Thats a real brain scracher. More than that. Private Transportation, which runs the private B110 route between Borough Park and Williamsburg bouht several 87-8800s, and the owner was at South Holland earlier this year looking at retired 20/21/22? 00s. The 87-8800s are reportedly being retired from B110 service (some ex-Denver RTD Orion Vs have recently entered service) and double-decked for tour operations. The three NABInut mentioned were not repainted and are used on express routes from Borough Park to predominently Hasidic-run businesses in Manhattan, like B&H Photo/Video. Quote
busfan4022 Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I just thought id through in a pic i took today. :) Quote
