Farewell TMCs

Well, since there was a "Farewell Flxibles" topic started over a year a ago, I've decided to start a "Farewell TMCs" topic since the start of the TMC retirement is just around the corner and these threads will help us remember the 1991 buses in a few years when the CTA will have no more of them. I will truely miss these buses. If anyone has any comments about TMCs or photos of TMCs, feel free to share!

This Morning,

Around 9AM, I've saw Bus #4771 running X3 King Dr Exp on S. Michigan/ Congress., That bus was from Kedzie Garage, This past summer I've always seen it on #12 Roosevelt. Did Kedzie transfer some of their TMCs?

I believe 77th used to have that bus until Nova Came around, because I do have a picture shot of #4772 running #79 at Western/79th terminal, it was in 1996.

This Afternoon, I've spotted two TMC's at Ford City working #79-79th; Bus#4741 with an "03" placed on the windshield and #4766 with no garage # on windshield. Did these buses just got transferred to 77th from 103rd for more 1000s? And how did 77th gain more of TMCs, did they took some Novas out to Chicago Garage to replace some 5300s? I did believe that those 2 used to be 77th buses back in 90s until Novas came.

And yes I did rode 4766 from Ford City to Dan Ryan for Red Line.

Today I rode TMC 4626 with 4628 right behind it. Both were operating on the 12 Roosevelt. If I'm not mistaken both had recently served 103rd. 4626 didn't have its garage sticker so I'm wondering if these got transferred back to Kedzie to make room for Flyers. By back I mean their previous assignment progression was Kedzie, Chicago, then 103rd. Any thoughts?

After 103rd's Novas "never came" as planned, Chicago gave 103 all their TMC's for Novas and 77th gave a few. When Kedzie started recieving Flyers after Archer, 103 gave Kedzie back some of the TMC's for some of Kedzie's 6000's. 77th gave 103 and NP Artics for TMC's after the first trade between 103 and Kedzie.

Ok. I had forgotten Kedzie got some TMCs back from 103rd a few months ago. Most of the TMCs I usually see from Kedzie are from the 4700 block.

Im working at the firehouse today, I spotted TMC #4403 at 16th/Pulaski on the 16th/18th route with a "K" designation on the window. NPs 4400s must be getting shipped out, any thoughts?

You got any pictures? I'd like to see one of the Non-Lift Equipped TMC's with A/C in the back.

I know that Chicago Fire Dept. has some of their 4900s, I've saw one last year at Front of Fire Station on W 95th in Beverly. Do you know what happened to the rest of the 4900s? I miss the TMCs with the back window. Hopelly I'll find one soon to buy it to make it as a trailer home for camp, pretty awesome.

I saw #4905 in the Ray Neilson/GPS video of the 2002 Bus Convention. Anyone who participated in this convention might know about this.

Chicago Fire Dept. has one 4900 TMC, it is assigned to the Fire Academy on DeKoven st. Chicago Police Dept. has an ex CTA 5300 Flxible on their roster.
