I have likely forgotten how the 5800 tone sounded. :o

I do think that the Stop Request tone on the 1000's is rather quiet to the extent

that some riders don't realize it has sounded.

Perhaps this may help you remember(the tone is hard to hear above the A/C and DD Series-50, but you can hear it at 0:09.)

Don't know why they didn't keep the taco bell tone at least on one #1000 bus as an experiment. It would fit in well with a bell sound on the "L" for closing doors. The bell they have now is simply to quiet. If your in the back of the bus you cannot hear it sound. That's one thing I dislike about the #1000's. They should change this #5800 bell sound to be not only on #1411 but on all the #1000's. I wonder if this could be some sort of experiment to that effect. We can always hope. BTW, anyone remember the fishbowls as having two different bells as well. There would be the newer type bell like what was on most buses previous to the NF's, and then there was one that sounded like a buzzer sound. (on 60's Flx's and I believe on Fishbowl #1000's.) The buzzer one could buzz non stop until the pull cord was let go. Probably one of the more irritating bells in history.

BTW, anyone remember the fishbowls as having two different bells as well. There would be the newer type bell like what was on most buses previous to the NF's, and then there was one that sounded like a buzzer sound. (on 60's Flx's and I believe on Fishbowl #1000's.) The buzzer one could buzz non stop until the pull cord was let go. Probably one of the more irritating bells in history.

IIRC, the later one was in connection with the Stop Requested sign. But I might not remember correctly.

The later one prevented on thing I would pull, which would be when a bus was stopped at a red light on the near side, but the bus stop was on the far side, I would push the button for the buzzer above the door, and the driver would let me out. I doubt that would happen today,

I don't quite get what your talking about in the beginning of the second paragraph, but remember that there were just regular bells on some buses that didn't have a stop requested sign. I remember you used to be able to ring it twice like a streetcar. You would always get the drivers attention when you did that. I do believe there might have been a few buzzer bells on the last of the #7700's (Fishbowls) at Np. That was the last of those that I knew of in regular service. That would be in the mid 1990's.

With regard to there being a buzzer button at the top of the rear door (the panel that had the green light when the door was unlocked so you could push it open), I was referring to 3800 series Flxs, and in the mid 70s.

Actually, the TMC's had buzzers, just not for the cords(1991 Flxibles might've had the buzzers too, 1995 Flxibles not too sure of). Anyhow, when a Wheelchair Passenger pressed that button under the flipped up seat, the speaker would emit a "Buzz-Buzz" type tone.
