I wonder if this bus has already been rehabbed or is it the pilot bus for the rehabs. I currently went on #2001 on the #72.

Obviously, being in the garage, you are in the best position to say when, and 103rd does have the ones at the bottom of the fleet order. I think #2001 will be retired due to the handicap ramp issue. Obviously it wasn't 1781 that showed up, based on your reporting it being in the boneyard and likely never to return to service, but an artic instead. If that's the case, I thought CTA would have gotten around to reprogramming the Clever Device unit already. Did you look at the bus number? That’s 4153. The implication was more they last the few more years it may take before CTA really gets electrification of the fleet moving at a strong enough level to have bus fleet contracts that are more on par with what current diesel bus orders have been. Basically getting electric bus orders to the point of being a couple hundred or more plus options on a contract as opposed to the current roughly 25 or so plus options. Tcmetro
The rehab program is estimated to add 5 to 7 years to the life of each bus, so retirements could be in 2033 if the work begins in 2026.

In addition to what everyone else said above, you are apparently assuming that CTA will keep 1480 diesel buses until 2040 and then instantly replace them with 1480 BEBs. That isn't the Charging Forward transition plan. That plan assumes a useful life of 14 years. The rehabs are pushing that, but the only diesel buses contemplated to last to 2040 are the Novas being put in service now.

Examples of buses with bad trackers that go off include 1547, 4031, and 4015, which been like this for months and they didn’t wanna fix it. Erin Mishkin Jr.
Yesterday I saw 1914 and 1758 have appeared in the boneyard, most likely for retirement but no LTH stickers around either buses. 1752 and 2009 remain at south fence with everything still intact and no LTH stickers or parts removed off either bus. 2009 is supposedly waiting for repairs and 1752 is retired but they are slow on 1752 taking anything off or putting LTH on it. 1795 got decommissioned faster than 1752 which is quite interesting. Apart from that nothing new from sidewalk view.
