I’m assuming #1230 might be retired at this point? Along with 1803, it’s been sitting at SS for over 6 months with no progress

as i speak #1724 is now back in active service

I mean, it's safe to say that #1022, #1081,#1083 and #1117 are retired atp. Not sure though. #1230 might be joining them.

#1762 hasn’t ran since 9/1/26, #1826 hasn’t ran since 8/27/26 and #1874 hasn’t ran since 9/25/26. What is the likelihood of these retiring? I read this forum and saw that #1874 received new rear lights recently so it might return to service soon but it has not been running much lately so idk what’s up with that bus.

Ohhh wait you're right. Maybe #1179 isn’t rehabbed light wise?

It’s been overhauled completely including the lights, it’s been like that for years. It originally had the fluorescent lighting before it was overhauled in 2014 with the current lighting they have now

4300 series lights are more flush with the panels so these look more like the original lights. #1275, some other one in that range along with #4149 actually originally came with the interior lighting similar to the 4300s until the #1000s rehab. #1283 came with interior lighting similar to the stimulus artics but in blue. Maybe they just kept some of the old lights just in case

Yeah that’s what I was thinking.

#1275, and #1283 was something special as they were the only option 1 buses to have it, but honestly CTA should have outfitted all the 1000s with them initially instead of starting off with options 3 and 4 buses to be equipped with them along with the early 4000s. But they were equipped with the lighting to test the waters probably before 1630 and up came in.

There was a low numbered 6400 with the similar lighting (#6440) also mentioned on the forums about it. The blue hue LED lighting on the three buses were the exact same or identical to the set up on 1630-2029. Picture taken of #1283 back from 2010 to showcase

You rung a bell about that 6440.... Is that an archer nova that got sent to 74th or 77th cause I kinda remember seeing that back in HS. I know for sure the all the weird signs were out south like 6518, 6515 and 1249 (ironically running Run #1249 on 95E)

Didn’t #6518 have white dest signs? I saw it on the 4 once.

I can't remember which was which between 6515 and 6518. One was all white and one had a separate color for the route number part of the dest. sign. Other oddballs were at other garages like one with racks and another with a different floor if I'm not mistaken. I want to say Archer or 74th for those but I don't remember anything odd on the #35 which was  Archer until my junior year.

Edit: 6515 is the twin vision bus.

I remember riding #6515 on the 103 to school. Not sure if my memory is correct though, wasn’t the 29 77th?

Yes until 2008. (Refer to the Spring 2008 topic for full breakdowns of what happened and why). 29 and 95W was moved because 103rd had too many swings. 108 AM was done by 74th to lighten their AM load. Then in 2010 77th and 74th had a few runs to help. Also you can interline and get better work out of 29 runs vs 77th

Ok then maybe I didn't ride #6515 on the 103 because I think #6515 was assigned to 77th.
