NICTD/South Shore Line

Official website makes no mention of one; I also  didn't see anything on mysouthshoreline.com, and Google turns up nothing. So, what's your source?

There are some news articles about revitalization around Hohman at Rimbach/Fayette, but no train station. Having grown up there, I can now say there is no Downtown Hammond.

Again, with respect to Pace extending further into Indiana, there's no indication that the RTA would authorize it.

I'm not clear why the Dan Rabin transit center had to close when the RBA fell apart, but that's why Pace [to get back to the topic] and GPTC moved to Morton/Willow.

The city says that it will open in August 2026. It was in the initial plan for the project but was removed and revived by the city as a separate initiative.

So Hammond thinks this new station will revitalize its downtown?  I'm still not convinced this makes sense in the grand scheme of things.

A lot of the old downtown cores on the Metra lines have built up apartment buildings and shopping areas partially due to access to the train. I get that NWI is not the same as Arlington Heights, but perhaps there's an untapped market.

Thanks At least the explanation is that Hammond is paying for it, not NICTD.

Still, all that it would serve at the moment is the federal courthouse.

On development, I previously mentioned what Hammond calls Rimbach Square. But you're talking more like redeveloping downtown Harvey than Arlington Heights, with regard to train station access spurring development..
