Heritage buses

The only buses that have the potential of being saved are the buses I have listed below. #6163 and #4905 are the best ones with minimal damage inside and and out. Everything is still intacted for both buses internally. Frames and other miscellaneous components looked good from a far. I'm no mechanic though so there is a reason why those buses haven't been saved after all these years. #5678 also comes to mind a far as another that could be saved. The question is whether or not the CTA deems them worthy of saving.#4905 and #5678 both have mechanical problems (Engine based) and #6163 to the best of my knowledge is also Mechanical related.  If I do recall it was driven to SS about a year and a half ago.

Having a heritage fleet at all isn't really its job either, but it seemed to show an interest in looking back upon and preserving part of its past putting the fleet together and showing it off during its 75th anniversary as well as engaging with the public through more than just providing transportation services for the city and nearby burbs. It's in that light I made my comment sir.

Having 3 buses and a couple of L cars isn't taking on the restoration of a mess that was depicted. Maybe if ctagifts can sell enough wooden trains and map neckties, but I don't think it can. Subject to sufficient donations and volunteers, that's IRM's job, and while it has abused equipment such as car 4001 and some C&SC salt cars, they aren't restored.

And again, you're missing the gist of my original comment. I sad that it's sad that they didn't lean in the direction SOON ENOUGH, as in before they became the unworkable rusted out hulks of junk they are now. There's no way I'm saying that they should attempt to do any restoration on them now. Let's be serious. 😂

They still have time for a couple 😂😂😂😂. I'm sure they save a #1000 before the decade comes to a close and maybe just maybe #6163.

Whatever, but you can't undo 100 years of Chicago transit history of converting old equipment to work units, as exemplified by the salt and storage cars. Even private efforts, such as to save 9799, have run into problems.
