ctaboy
I was on my way to work, then I saw a NABI running on Western and Novas running 21 Cermak and 60 Blue Island/26th !

All three of those routes are run out of Archer Garage now. However, the NABI articulated that you saw on the #49 is likely a loaner or a fill-in from another garage (likely either Kedzie or North Park, or possibly 77th). renardo870
Thanks for the further info on the #49 runs. Really? So Western is getting additional help with NABI's? Thats cool...Western will be a future BRT route down the line. Either coming out of NP or 77th will be a great help esp when the 4000's get plentiful @ C, K, NP , 103rd and 77th. More buses will be available to move around

Either coming out of NP or 77th will be a great help esp when the 4000's get plentiful @ C, K, NP , 103rd and 77th. More buses will be available to move around The NP run mentioned is only one run. We can't say for sure what will be a BRT route beyond the those initially announced earlier this year. We also can't say how extensive the BRT service will eventually be. We definitely can't make grandiose predictions on what's to come in the future of CTA service based on only one run on one bus route. Also remember we can't say for sure if the 4000s will be for BRT. Other evidence is starting to possibly show that they won't. It's suggested the option of 58 additional buses announced by New Flyer may turn out to be the BRT buses. As for the 4000s go, wherever they end up beyond Kedzie, the one definite assigned garage for them so far, they will most serve the routes assigned to the garages the buses get housed. The other thing to consider is where would the money come from to operate additional runs on the 49 beyond the regular runs from Archer and the one school trip run from NP? It's going to take money to do this, and getting new buses doesn't translate to creating a lot of new bus runs anywhere. Let's not forget new buses coming means more older buses will be retired and scrapped. The focus here is replacing aging equipment not huge expansions in service that there's no money for. So there wouldn't be all this new equipment available for what you're proposing to begin with.
Busjack
I agree with jajuan that you read too much into one bus that rmadison explained. However, since Western is one of the gray lines on the long term map, I predict that you will see hybrid bus 8142 there sometime. I don't know, but the "proof will be in the pudding." BTW, this prediction goes back on my "we'll know when we see 4207." Those keeping up will know what I mean.
rmadisonwi
long term map Page 13 - photo looks like a New Flyer high-floor artic. I don't recognize the paint scheme. Anyone know what system that is?

Anyone know what system that is?White with a blue stripe would be NY MTA, also illustrated on page 15. However, the area below the belt rail is a bit funky, and looks like a wrap. One with a similar lower body treatment is illustrated in Wikipedia.
qwantae
I was on my way to work, then I saw a NABI running on Western and Novas running 21 Cermak and 60 Blue Island/26th ! That NABI you seen running on Western could be a loaner from North Park because last week, I've spotted a 5800 on Western by Irving Park working #49 but it saided it was only going south to Harrison. Actually, as someone else said, North Park runs one single weekday afternoon southbound #49 trip from Lane Tech High School to Harrison, then deadheads eastbound on the Eisenhower Expressway to downtown to run a downtown-to-North-Side PM rush route normally handled by NP (e.g. #144). cta_44499_FG
#144). North Park does AM school trips on...(as many of you know) the #152 Addison route...from Austin on east. In the PM, North Park does the following 49 Western -from Berwyn, stage at Lane for 5 minutes, to Congress/Blue L 50 Damen- from Foster/Amundsen HS to Congress/Blue L 82 Kimball/Homan- from Northside Prep and Von Stuben HS to Congress/Blue L And of course the 152s we are accustomed to seeing from Lane on west to Austin,Harlem, or Cumberland. So...any bus is possible here.
