I did update roster today with information that is current as of Dec 1st. 2009. I just rode it a few weeks ago, and it was a rehabbed, well-running bus. Do they not need these 8 buses or were there serious mechanical problems with them? Also, I was in Chicago recently, those 1995 Flxibles ride ROUGH! Not all of them, but a GREAT portion of them. We have 20 year old Flxibles running here in the NY Metro Area and they ride like the day they were new. What is going on in Chicago? Kedzie garage routes 50, 62 & 82 have the same PT numbers K4xx. Rte 50 & 62 are identical. Rte 82 starts with K5xx but PT is K4xx. Is this a typo? The problem is that with all the interlining, some route like Archer is now served by 3 garages, downtown routes by maybe 4. With the interlining, obviously a 74th that runs on 62 and 29 undoubtedly will be in a run number group for some route actually mostly based at 74 (i.e., the Garages page indicating that the 29 trip is in the Halsted group, Archer trips are in the 47 group). Somewhat surprising to me, but not after thinking about it, is that 55A/N is grouped with 59, not 55. I'll leave out my next comment, considering who started this thread. Yes there was a lot of bus swapping last year but in the months leading to the Feb. 7th service cuts and the following two months after the cuts and that big system wide swap that resulted from the cuts, bus assignments have actually been relatively static. The only problem is that in Chicago, once you've done it, it becomes instantly obsolete. Historically while a new batch of buses is being delivered allocations remain relatively fluid. In periods when no new vehicles are received (such as now) allocations remain static. In the period 2006-2009 cta received 1303 new buses, this is well over 50% of the operating fleet and was bound to cause continual changes to vehicle allocations while they were received.
