BTW, here's another alert: The Red Line is down south of Roosevelt until mid October. but Red Line trains will use the Green Line track. Note: Purple Line trains are not affected as they don't run south of Howard on weekends. This is due to structural maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely on the Brown Line. Probably more related to this topic than anything is today's Hilkevitch column that CTA cameras are picking up a lot more incidents, a lot more, than the occasional electrocution or being run over by a train. sw4400 Posted September 18, 2013 Author Report Share Posted September 18, 2013 I think I prevented a Brown Line service disruption just now... I got on a train at Irving Park and the car I entered had a noticeable burning smell. When I got to Addison, I got off and alerted the operator who delayed the train while he checked. On the platform side near the back of the car where the truck is, there was a little smoke coming up. The operator did something on the track side and inside in some control panel and left about five minutes after the delay.
