Service Interruption Severity: Service Suspended due to a raised bridge in the Loop, Downtown. Green Line service is suspended between the Loop and Clinton. Additionally, service on the Pink Line is only operating as far as Ashland.

Green Line service is only operating in two sections:

  • between Harlem/Lake and Clinton
  • between the Loop and Cottage Grove only.

Pink Line service is operating as follows:

  • between 54th/Cermak and Ashland only.

Alternate Service: Shuttle Buses are available at Clark/Lake and Clinton to provide connecting service through the affected area(s) until normal service resumes.

Watching Train Tracker Beta....a Pink line quad keeps going round and round the Loop. Green line trains stand at Clinton SB and then disappear. One Green line seems to have went north at Tower 18. Evidently there are towermen at Illinois Crossover to turn. The turned Green line showed back up as a SB on the Loop, but solid green as if it was going to Ahland/63. Po' Train Tracker Beta.

Now Wells St. is going up at 1215 hours. That's taking along time since Lake Street's raise.(or do you call it lift?) They're turning the first Brown line train at Illinois and relooping the Brown on the Loop.

But back to the Pink line train. It must have made four or maybe five loops....should be a "swinging load."

Rail Line(s) Affected: Red

Service Interruption Severity: Minor Delays due to an unauthorized person on the tracks earlier near Argyle.

Apparently whomever it was didn't learn from the poor soul who actually fell onto the tracks at Addison and died after being zapped by the third rail early Friday morning.

I wonder if this past weekend's bridge lift has anything to do with the construction near Lake and Canal. It looks like they are going to build a building that will cover the Amtrak Metra tracks.

If they are, this will block some of the view of the river coming from the west on.the Green and Pink Lines

The bridge lifts for sporting boaters are on a schedule: Wednesdays and Sundays, plus in peak times Saturday, from a certain date in Spring through a date in Autumn. If the city and the boaters hadn't agreed to this arrangement, they'd be raising those bridges up and down like elevators as boats have the right-of-way. The only manned bridge tenders are those on the far southeast side on the Calumet River. Chicago has more movable bridges than any other city.

I linked to and posted those dates here for viewing. Actually, the dates only run through the end of this month. They'll still open periodically throughout the remainder of the Summer into the Fall, but probably not as frequently as during this lift period right now.

OK. Then there's a separate Autumn schedule when they bring the boats back in.

Don't know what happened tonight... I walked up Kedzie to take the Brown Line home and saw the gates lowered and lights flashing. In the middle of Kedzie, blocking car traffic was a Loop-bound train standing pat. The lights inside were on in the car I saw, then the car went dark for several seconds. I saw what looked someone walk quickly around the train to the NB side of Kedzie. Shortly after that, the lights came back on and a few seconds later, the train started moving again.

Any ideas on what I saw here??? Temporary power loss of train? Some issue requiring power cut from line? There was no reported delays on the Brown Line and no emergency equipment on scene like if something happened(e.g: accident)
