CTA Bus Garage Rosters

The June 2022 performance metrics show 22.2% of the bus fleet unavailable for service on an average day in the same month. IIRC, the FTA spare ratio is 20% and CTA claims to not have cut service. So in addition to not having enough drivers for service, there aren't enough buses. I would assume the introduction of the 8350s to service has helped improve this figure though.

#4082 does count since it was involved in a accident just like #4115 and #4195 that you included.

I wonder when a bus is retired let’s say for 3-7 years I wonder will it ever turn back on or not, and how are retired buses moved around are they moved on their own or do they get pushed by something else does anyone know how does this work?

9times out of 10 they are pushed around cause they sit for so long the battery is dead that's if SS guys didn't blow the motor or Trans

That is usually what happens at SS, whatever is next on the assignment list for maintenance to retrieve, An electric slug or truck will normally help push the dead bus to the shops area. It's usually a dark blue truck that I've seen similar to truck #270 in size that does the pushing.

Usually they are pushed around, the retired buses themselves can’t move. Same thing at Skokie shops railcars are pushed into the shops due to no third rail outside the shop area. Theres a red shuttle wagon that pushes the cars in and out of the shops

Any word on when they will transfer all the remaining Old novas from the garages they’ve spilled over to over a year ago to south shops in preparation of scrapings? I know all the new buses are all delivered in the base order.

According to @Shannoncvpi’s video when he was at 103rd, the remaining #6600’s along with #6579 are parked outside so they’re no longer inside the garage so they’re waiting to be sent to SS. Credit goes to him for the latest update.
