BusHunter
Yeah, I know no choice but to refrain myself from disclosing updates that's not accurate thanks to this bs from the shop. Hell, makes me wanna get some kind of access inside the shop to see for my damn self! By the way, #1183 and #1931 were updated via maintenance. #1184 (possible for a full rehab) and #1947 are in maintenance procedure. #1848 and #2024 are awaiting rehab.#1848 is out on the #70 today so that must be rehabbed. There's a few more new ones to check. #1771 is on the #50, #1408 is on the #49, #1371 is on the #7 but it's pulling in.

BusHunter
There's quite a few buses that have been released today. #1372 on the #39, #1365 on the #94, #1853 on the #35, since when does this go to the beach? #1846 is on the #57/#73 interline. So they are getting down to about 8 #1800's left to at least get mechanical rehabs. Looks like now the #2000's will be last.

Guest
Fg will probably get the rest of the #7900's unless they are hell bent on Chicago getting some. Busjack alluded to the electric buses plan has no funding, so it sounds like they will get the 450 #7900's now. Fg really deserves them all for what they and the north side's been put up with. (not that that will probably happen, i have a hard time believing CTA is in such a giving mood) They have a saying that goes "they've been rode hard and put up wet" alluding to horses but it has a metaphorical meaning as well. Fg's been rode hard and they deserve good things to come there way. Anything's better than the #6400's, except maybe the ice cream trucks (#500's) Hell I'll even be happy with all #1000's!!These #1300's i just can't figure out, we have #1364 on the #9, #1353 at 74th, #1357 and #1359 passed me on the #82, it's like wth, where do the #1300's belong? Hopefully they will straighten these fleets out because they are really confusing and if the windshield doesn't have the right garage code that bus will just go wherever it says it's going.Theres no doubt in my mind along with everything else in this city this garbage with CTA is politcally motivated! CTA management also obviously has some issue with assigning newer equipment to provide the NW side riders! I wish this would get the attention of the media but we know It wont! I think we all remember several years back when the CTA recieved the RTS and BOTH Flxible orders, later the Nova order. The south side residents were complaining that they werent given a fair amount of air conditioned buses which all know not to be true!!! Half of the 5300s were placed in service on the south side and west sides the remaining going to FG. The 6000s started at 77th then Kedzie and 74th!! The RTSs didnt have a/c initially and even those buses of course as with most new CTA buses start their service lives at 77th. So the south side had just as many a/c buses and newer equipment as the rest of the city. But what CTA is doing, lacking for NW side riders is worthy of media attention. Go to FG and see rows and rows of 13 year old equipment. Nothing updated, nothing new! The age of the FG fleet are all at or past the FTA life expiration. The Blue line not being assigned any new cars and only getting the oldest equipment from other lines so that those lines can be supplemented with newer rail equipment. All 30+ year old equipment sitting at Rosemont yard and Forest Park. Now its a completely different scenery when you visit the 98th st yard, Harlem ave/Green line yard. 77th/74th st garages. I really wish this would get the attention of the local media and possibly sway CTA management to do the right thing and equally distribute its new and rehabbed equipment to all areas of the city. There is no reason for CTA management to be doing what its doing ! What CTA is doing is Wrong!!! Shame on them!!! No fairness!! No equality!!! Busjack
... The south side residents were complaining that they werent given a fair amount of air conditioned buses which was not true! ...Problem is that you don't have a bunch of loud mouth activists on the northwest side, but a bunch of aldermen who are part of the Emanuel machine. Also, Emanuel knows he doesn't have to buy votes on the northwest side.If they can't do anything about airport noise, which affects their constituents, they aren't interested in doing anything about transit equipment, which, I bet, proportionately, does not. There certainly wasn't any stink on the northwest side about the Crowd Reduction Plan.
BusHunter
#1763 has been released on the #97, so 6 more for NP. #2004 is on the #66 and #2007 is on the #74.Fg should be getting newer buses soon. At least by the fall. If the #8100's arrive, sooner than that. But yeah I agree, CTA should just stop this charade and give them some newer buses. Waiting until they have all the old buses is too late. It's pretty bad when a 1/5 of your garage retires at one setting. Why they kept the #6400's from Chicago, I'm thinking might be due to them having lower mileage. Chicago didn't use them on weekends or nights. Now buses like #6444 work the overnight, so they are racking up the miles.BTW, i noticed there are still buses out here without an updated clever device. #6444 doesn't have one, probably because it's going in the next round of retirees. They'll probably lose the #6400's they have when the 45 novas from Chicago arrive. Then when the #8100's get here they should lose most of the pre #6709's, so Fg should start looking more updated soon enough.
