3500s? Really that was the original name of the 5000s

Probably not. CTA usually diesn't reserve a big series for 6 buses.

Maybe 8950 (similar to 5900-5902 and 7800).

If we are talking electric buses, particularly the 6 new Novas to come, I would guess they would get 3 digit numbers.  That's what CTA did with the 700s ( New Flyers) and 600s ( Proterras).   Since the 500s were 0ptimaa, that leaves 300s and 400s available.  They could also go 550s. 750s, or 850s.  I would expect 6900s before 8950s.

Hell they can use the 500 numbers again since the 500's been retired since 2014-15 somewhere in there

The 700s are retired to make room for the 600s, so it could be that.

half the 600’s won’t see service anytime soon, alot of them are parked at SS or in the boneyard collecting dust, and no the 700’s weren’t retired to make room for the 600’s.

Given that CTA only got the 700s as a test order from my view which is similar to the both the 800s and 900s testing, as those were only expected to retire a year after heir test technologies were completed in 2007-2008, but CTA was nice enough to keep them around for a bit. As far as the 700s CTA can get rid of them whenever they need to or not. But time will tell.

CTA is probably never getting the electric LFS with the plant shutting down in a few months. Even though the money was earmarked for 6 buses and 103rd garage chargers, they never did put an electric Nova order up for board approval. There is, however, an outstanding order for 22 PhoenixEV (Proterra successor) buses that should be delivered later this year and would likely just be a continuation of the 600 series.

that’s “if” that order even goes thru lol, CTA’s best option imo/atp is XDE’s or XE’s

Depends what you mean by "go thru." The CT Boatd approved the options and the assignment to PhoenixEV. As to whether PhoenixEV performs, who knows?
