Will the Pink/Blue Racine to Jeff Park be restored as well as the 5/6 Brownage rountrippers from Midway to Kimball?

- Runs 3xx on the Blue using the 5000 series from 54th have been back for some time.

- Tiger runs are rumored to return; exact number seems unclear. (https://www.facebook.com/groups/120452714691417/posts/26967844229525568/) But there were 6 round trips pre-pandemic.

Looks like this is the service change to get back to pre-pandemic service levels. Will be interesting to see if this rolls out smoothly or not - CTA's initial resistance to cutting service led to uneven headways when runs could not be staffed.

Good to see that Blue Line Owl service is actually coming back better than before the pandemic.

Here's the other changes I was able to gather - service levels are going up pretty much across the board.

Red: 7-8 min weekday evening (down from 10), 6-10 mins Saturdays (down from 10-12), 7-10 mins Sundays (down from 10-12).

Blue O'Hare: 4 min peak (down from 5), 6 min midday/evening/Saturday (down from 7-8), 6 min Sundays (down from 10), 7-8 min night (down from 10).

Blue Forest Park: 4-8 min peak (down from 5-10), 12 midday/evening/Saturday (down from 15), 12 min Sundays (down from 20), 15 min night (down from 20).

Green: 7-8 min peak (down from 10), 10 min midday/evening/Sat/Sun (down from 12), 12 min night (down from 15).

Orange: 7-8 min peak (down from 8-10), 9-10 min midday (down from 12), 10 min Sat/Sun (down from 12).

Brown: 7-8 min midday/evening (down from 8-10), 10 min night (down from 12), 8-9 min Saturday (down from 12), 10 min Sunday (down from 15).Β

Pink: 8-9 min peak (down from 10), 10 min midday/evening/Saturday/Sunday (down from 12), 12-15 min night (down from 15-20).

Purple: 10 min midday/evening (down from 12), 15 min night (down from 15-20), 12 min Sat/Sun (down from 15).

Purple Express: 6-10 min peak (down from 7-15).

Yellow: 12 min peak (down from 15), 15 min off peak (down from 20).

There used to be two trains in each rush period operating from 54th Yard between Racine and Jefferson Park.Β  Β Now it's just one.

Based on the changes I would guess it's going to be a good while before we see anymore 2600s retiring ( at least until more 7000s are introduced into service and deliveries are consistent).Β Β

It looks like they are also going to short turn some standard blue line runs at Jefferson Park under the new schedule (e.g. not the 5000s). Two morning trips are listed from UIC to Jefferson Park and back to FP (as opposed to Racine, which is still listed for one run each rush). Here's an example date of next Friday: https://transsee.ca/routesched?a=ctal&r=Blue&date=2024-11-08&ok=OK

Also - is it me, or is there normally a press release & new (official) schedules out at this point prior to a new pick? If it were my agency, I wouldn't waste this opportunity to drum up excitement for the 'return' to 2019 service that starts tomorrow.

Nobody has yet said what is the effective date of the new schedules. Any press release would be 3 or 4 days before that.

I was able to locate the official schedules with the effective date (November 3) by modifying the URL of an old advance timetable. Here's the blue, should be modifiable by changing the slug to whatever color line.

Wherever you got that (you said where), it isn't publicly posted, nor is there an Upcoming Alert, so I don't think it goes into effect tomorrow.

There used to be press releases especially in the huberman era. Now they just put advanced schedules up a week prior

There's been a few times recently where the schedules don't get posted until after the start date and they don't bother with an advanced timetables page. It's not transparent at all (basically every other transit agency in the country has figured out how to communicate service changes) and causes confusion. In any case, as the schedule is loaded into the GTFS it will feed the train tracker and other apps tomorrow.

Blue Line will have a whopping 50 runs out of O'Hare and 30 runs out of Forest Park.

I hear that Red (Howard) has 43 runs, Purple has 24 runs and Yellow has 7 runs. How many runs does 95th have? I'm assuming it would be 35-40.

Totally tardy with the press release and the updated Schedule.Β

Yeah, they fooled me. One would have thought that the purpose of a public utility was to serve the public, but, as usual, it isn't.

How many does the Brown, Green, Orange and Pink have now? I think the Brown went back to its 40-45 runs, Green increased to 25-30 runs on each end, Orange went to 30+ runs and Pink went to 28-32 runs.

Brown - 36 runs

Green - 23 runs each terminal

Orange - 26 runs

Pink - 21 runs
