Skokie Shops Storage

I have created this topic for any potential conversations relating to any future maintenance/status of cars and deliveries or retirements, so let’s get started.

2943-44, 3105-06, and 3277-78 is at Skokie Shops. 3451-52 is still in the yard at Skokie thought It would been back on the brown line already following the fire on #3452, however there is video relating to the 2024 rodeo Jamboree somewhere around September with them being spotted inside the shop.

I’m not going to point out any active 5000s or recent delivered 7000s as they are in and out of Skokie shops receiving overhauls/being inspected before being sent down to the Blue Line for service.

A heritage 2400 was recently removed from the shops to the scrap yard, I forget the unit number but it’s on Reddit.

2544. No wonder why CTA always run 4 of its heritage 2400s every time they come out for events.

That pair was apart of the 4 car consist, the others had paint issues and other stuff happening. This car was fine until an incident in the yard completely fried it beyond repair.

one of the cars also have a white light which indicates a dead battery that causes only the emergency lights to only work instead of the full interior lights. Don’t take my word I’m guessing someone mistakenly coupled it with a pair of 5000s which damaged 2544 electrically?

You are 100% correct, somehow it got electrically couple to a 5000 which never ever should happen and all the electronics got fried in the 2400.

What happened to 5271-5272? They’ve been LTH for too long there’s no point of that whatever the issue is Skokie Shops is not trying to fix them, it’s time for them to come back into service

I don't know.   Could those cars be on LTH  for legal issues such as a lawsuit or other legal or judicial matter involving these cars?
