I can rock with these improvements, especially giving later times & improved frequency on the 330… especially at late nights and on Sundays. Would make trips home from me working down over at the airport more easily convenient.

In addition to what's stated above, also at the May 2026 meeting:

  • Route 501 will be extended up Route 59 to Caton Farm Road, serving the new Hollywood Casino and several businesses on Route 59; variants on Jefferson direct to Jewel and around Houbolt Road eliminated.
  • image.thumb.png.e479686fd544a896454c193f5afc1425.png
  • Route 290 will not go onto the Town Center property, but will stay on Touhy  (did not say anything about 210).
  • Route 533 adjusted to serve the new Hollywood Casino Aurora.
  • As @jade mentioned above, Route 550 variants discontinued. Instead all trips will go to Crystal Lake, said to be at no additional cost.

Those 550 changes are huge! The old variants were confusing to even understand with random gaps throughout the day in certain directions to the I-90 Park and Ride Transfer. It now runs more consistently through the day with memorable times.

So far I've been disappointed to not see them address Spring Hill Mall Closing and the Elgin Mall (flea Market) moving from Elgin to East Dundee. They still run the 552 and 803 to the Cinemark Theater and Jewel there, while everything that made the mall a great destination has shifted over to Randall Road with confusing 550 service then none on Saturday. Next, they should really work on adding Saturday service on the 550 when funding is available.

Alert for 290: https://www.pacebus.com/notice/route-290-service-change-0https://www.pacebus.com/notice/route-290-service-change-0

It says, in part:

Riders looking to make connections to Pace Route 210 and access locations surrounding the Lincolnwood Town Center can do so by utilizing stops on Touhy Ave. at Town Center Dr.

Schedule times will shift 2-3 minutes earlier in both directions at stops that come after Touhy & McCormick.

An updated timetable dated May 31, 2026, can be viewed here. https://www.pacebus.com/sites/default/files/2026-05/PaceRt290_20260531[92].pdf

No alert for 210 at the moment.

It’s showing 210’s route on Lawndale Avenue. Error or maybe the sign of a route change for 210?

It really surprises me how there is no saturday service on the 550. Maybe next pick.

I take it you're saying that the 290 map says that.  As of last night,  there wasn't a new 210 schedule.  But using that as a loop makes as much sense as anything else (I was thinking the McCormick Devon triangle as on early trips.)

Yes, I forgot to mention this was 290’s schedule.

And yes, I was thinking that maybe it would revise to doing the clockwise loop for McCormick/Devon trips (Lincoln, Devon, McCormick, back northwest on Lincoln. It makes me wonder if 210 could be doing a route change for it to do a loop around the Lincolnwood area, to still connect to the shopping/retail establishments nearby LTC.

When I saw it showed “210” on Lawndale Avenue, I looked on maps to see what that could mean. And I think I see something that could work.
Buses could continue down north on McCormick, and then west on Northeast Parkway, then heading north up on Central Park-Lawndale, then east on Touhy to return south on McCormick to its northbound route. The 290 alert did say those wanting to transfer to 210 could get the bus at Town Center Dr on Touhy, so maybe that’s where the 210’s new terminus point will be.

All in all, I feel that could make sense, because 210 would still be serving the businesses in the neighborhood, especially those along Touhy, like Walmart, Lowe’s, LA Fitness, Mariano’s, etc.

I was literally about to comment something similar LMAO! Also notice there isn't a stop at Touhy/Lincoln even though those 2 routes intersect over there so I figured even though 210 doesn't have an alert, eventually it would reroute via Touhy, Lawndale/Northeast Parkway, McCormick, Touhy then back to Lincoln to connect with 290 at Town Center Dr. If 290 stays on Touhy I don't think the early Devon trips would allow a connection and I guess safety is a concern with transferring at Lincoln/Touhy 🧐. Also Pace repeatedly tried to cut 210 so this reroute (if true) may be pace saying that "there's no demand on Lincoln south of Touhy" even if they can't cut the whole route. That saves about 3 miles it looks like.

Well I was saying that it would still go down Lincoln south of Touhy to connect to northbound McCormick. I don’t know if it’ll cut southbound service on Lincoln south of Touhy. There still be those needing to connect to CTA routes 11, 82, 96, and 155.

If 82 is still going into the area then the connection would still be preserved even without going south on Lincoln. Also it serves the brown line. 96 is basically redundant of 290. Then there's the confusion on the map showing 210 entering Lawndale or exiting from Touhy in which case negates going that far south since Lawndale wraps around and turns into Northeast drive. So it could either be a misprint or pace being late on the 210 alert

I don't live or work in Elgin, but it seems like the original intent of 550 North Randall was to get people to the office parks, and it was extended to Crystal Lake later. From what was said at the meeting, the office park traffic dried up. The question I would raise is if there are any connections in Crystal Lake on weekends. There are the 800s and DAR projects during the week.

Could be, as indicated by the transfer point at Town Center Dr. and Touhy. On the other hand, there isn't a line on the map for Northeast Parkway. We'll have to wait for a 210 notice.

Yeah, and even nowadays, the majority of 550 traffic goes to the corporate park or the Randall Park and Ride, not all the way to Crystal Lake, so I don't see how this new service improves anything, honestly.

They are starting to add new bus stop signs along Randall Road near the corporate park and the Chase corporate center. But they are all ADA nightmares in a ditch alongside a 50 mile an hour highway. It is pretty much impossible for anybody with mobility issues to access their jobs there

That’s what I was wondering too, but true. Perhaps a new alert for 210 will come up in the coming days and we’ll have our answer… or perhaps it’s an error in the map. Though I’m guessing it’s not, cause if they see no reason for the 290 to serve the mall directly anymore due to its closure, then it may likely be the same for 210.

It said a few weeks ago that the Village of Lincolnwood is talking with CTA for 82 to still serve the area. So I’m guess they may be trying to relocate its former terminus point at the mall to somewhere else nearby. Perhaps we’ll probably get a notice on that before or early in June, since the mall is supposedly permanently closing its main building mid-June.

Don’t know why, since 290 no longer does, and the mall is closing (officially) this month to start demolition.

Perhaps to connect to the 82 and 155,

Posted
3 hours ago, TaylorTank1229 said:

You could do that anywhere along McCormick Boulevard between Lincoln and Devon.

The previous poster noted the 290 is no longer going to the mall but the 210 still does.  The point is you can use the 210 ( or the 11) to get there and connect with the 82 or 155.  I don't know if the 210 is due for another truncation bit it certainly seems headed for an eventual elimination.

New alert up for 210. Buses no longer going to Lincolnwood Town Center. And it seems it is going down the route I predicted it’ll be weeks ago.

(Though I don’t know why it’s labeled under “temporary routing”.)

That applies only to the buses that used to end at the mall.

Are the other 290s that go to Central or Cumberland taking that same detour?

You mean not going into the mall anymore? If so then yes, that applies to all of the bus trips. They stay on Touhy Ave.
