Yeah many routes specify a specific route. Run A007 is actually a #62 Archer run Number. They are many runs are like this. Usually the Western runs start on the 500s for the Regular runs, 570s are the Block Runs and the 600s are usually for the Part Time runs and Trippers. And since Western have Nightcars, they use the final 6 numbers of that run number bracket (565-570). Any between the last regular full time run of the day and 564 get skipped unless otherwise. They are some multiple routes that share a run number bracket like the 34-119 Michigan, 144-146 & 148 Michigan Express & 14-15 Jeffery. Those are a few of the series of many routes that share the same run number brackets. Archer also shares the same run number brackets with the #129 West Loop-South Loop Route.

But they are some runs that does another bus routes on that primary route's run number. For Example: There Could be Run Number 539 from 74th Garage which its a #55 Garfield run. That Run Could start as an 44 Wallace-Racine on the first platform. The platform could be two round trips on Racine from the Orange Line to 87th. And then after the driver's fallback, they'll do a #55 Garfield on the second platform which the platform could have 3 round trips on 55th from the Museum to Midway. Usually, the route that has the most platform time from the two routes that the driver is doing for the day is that route's primary run number.

Although most of those run numbers are accurate, the one for the Kedzie runs are inaccuarate since the Summer of 2006 and after the Fall of 2006 when the Rostering ended for 74th & North Park. For Example, Roosevelt starts the Run Number Bracket with 201 and not 241. And Kimball-Homan's run start with the 700s now (which used to be the 37 Segdwick-Ogden runs). The 38 & 127 starts the runs in the 600s (which used to be the 82 Kimball-Homan Runs prior to the Summer of 2006)

At some point, if everybody is good, maybe I'll put together a list of the new run numbers and post them. I don't know if Bill Vandervoort is still maintaining his website or not.

While the information may be outdated I still think it gave the OP enough information on how the run numbers are derived.

The route number grouping is "the same" but the work does change as rmadisonwi did say....for example F026 is an 85 Central run, however the second half of that run apparently does the 86.

Heres a more better idea of what the streets are at Forest Glen:

FT being Full time, BR being block, and PTR being a PTO trippers

Of course while they belong to a certain "street" that isn't always so now adays.

Why do we have to be "good"? We're not some classroom that's on punishment. Also, what's your defination of "good" for us? Anyway, in all honestly, I don't think Bill Vandervoot has updated his site in a couple of years other then putting up those photos (and their info) of the new buses.

As revealed in the Yahoo group, one of the problems is that he relies on Andre K. for his research, and Andre, for the past five or so years, was first in Las Vegas and then went into truck driving. Andre also complained that Pace wouldn't give him any information. Thus, there is all sorts of stuff on CSL buses, on which Andre claims to have done independent research while at the CTA, but the Pace roster hasn't been updated.

For instance, I e-mailed Bill about his Hammond page (since I lived there), and he passed the e-mail along to Andre, but wouldn't use it as a source of corrections.

As stated in another post, Bill will start updating again. And by "good", I think he means that he'll post if everybody's ok with it. I don't think he's saying, "I'll post if everyone behaves well." I think he's saying "I'll post if everyone's cool with it."

Some runs are going to be splited with other bus routes. Like all of the CTA routes that serve Jefferson Park except for the X54 come out of the Glen. They could make runs that a driver might do two routes in one platform. Just to bring up another example, the driver can do one round trip on the 85A North Central route when they start and after that round trip, they could do 1 round trip on the 56 Milwaukee. On the second platform they'll do one round trip on the 56 Milwaukee and when they get back to Jeff Park do another round trip on the 85A.

I remember back on the fall pick on 2004 when Kedzie had a couple of late-night Roosevelt runs (260, 262 & 263) start their work doing an 82 Kimball-Homan on the first platform. Also during the summer of 2006, I also saw a 9 Ashland Bus but it had a Garfield run #523. It was obvious that the bus was doing a second platform because it was after 2am on a very late Saturday Night and the bus was about to pulling in from 95th & State to 74th.

They also do that at 95th/Redline which is mostly 103rd's territory. I've seen two runs from 34-119 turn into 95Es.

This happens every day: if the first AM 100 from the 95th Red Line (6:10 AM) is late, a 103 wil turn into a 100. I've talked to the very, very strict female supervisor who works the west side of the terminal, and she confirmed this.

And, of course, the 34's runs used to be shared with the 119 because they used to be different branches of the same route.

They still have some runs where drivers do some of half of both routes. Remember they share the same run number brackets. It use to be another night run during the winter pick of 2005. I think it was #382 from 103rd which at the time was a #111 Pullman run number where the driver does one trip on the 111 or maybe two trips on the second half. And then becomes a 119 when they get to 95th & State again and do a trip and half on that route and pullin from 119th & Ashland.

I don't know if this counts, but I know a driver out of 103rd who does the 108 in the AM and the X28 in the PM.

That run could be a split-run where a driver does the 108 in the morning and have that long fallback for about a few hours and come back in the afternoon and do the X28. I would be kind of puzzled if its either a Stony run or a 108 Halsted run. It all depends on the amount of work the driver does in between those two routes. For example if the driver does more the amount of time on Stony Island then the 108 Halsted, then that run would be on the Stony Island bracket.
