Does Chicago Garage have the 11 Lincoln route

does Chicago Garage give out the Lincoln route. becasue i see a 1000 series NF with a garage code 5 and with a destination sign 11 Lincoln Sedgwick. there is also two Flxibles a 6000 and a 5300 going infront of my house everyday.

Not for regular service runs it didn't. Chicago operated the rush hour 3Track supplement runs. But 3Track operations end completely this month in phases, some started last Sunday and the rest starting Monday as a matter of fact. All tracks at Belmont and Fullerton went back in use last Sunday while clockwise routing of the Purple Line Express on the Loop should go back into affect on Monday. So you shouldn't be seeing any Chicago buses on the 11 anymore come Monday.

What makes you so sure of that?

Logical guess with 3Track being over. I don't see a logical need for it anymore with all tracks back in use and Purple Line Express and Brown Line rush hour service being increased again. Though I never claimed to be completely sure of anything. And I definitely learned not to bet against you. :P

So much for logic....

LOL ... I wonder how you found out CTA5555's run for tomorrow.
I think rmadison and the two others may have tripped you, since the first is an insider the two others are bus drivers  (at least from what has proven credible on this forum).

Of course, why there would be a 3 track run today is totally beyond me.

Update: I looked at the schedule, effective today, and saw that some runs end at Clark-LaSalle, which might be construed as being in Chicago Garage territory.*

I suppose that one of several drivers on this forum who are from Chicago Garage can elucidate on what it is running on Lincoln and why.

__

*Others end at Fullerton, and go back to Foster, and thus are clearly NP buses.

It was explained to me that these 3 track trips on the 11 would remain running after the 3 track project was complete for an undisclosed amount of time and would be monitored to see if the people riding along the Lincoln Ave corridor would switch back to the train or continue riding the 11. If the latter is the case, Chicago Ave would still loose the trippers and North Park would inherit running them.

Also regarding knowing what cta5555 works... The extra board schedule is posted at the garage and you can see what anyone on the board is working!

Any 11 run ending at Clark/LaSalle then transitions to a northbound 22 or 36 in service to Foster then pulls into North Park Garage. These are not Chicago garage runs.

That's how the Chicago Ave extra trippers on the 11 pull out.

...

Is the reverse similar? Addison isn't a time point on the public schedule, but that probably doesn't mean that they don't start or end there.

Also, what is the approximate time of those runs (in case we want to look for route variations on Bus Tracker)?

You will not see these runs (or any run of the type I am to mention) for the fact that these are "extra runs". These runs are ran using the manual mode function on the Clever Devices, and because they are not part of the regularly scheduled service...the bus tracker will not show them. So theoretically, you can call it a "ghost bus" . It is there, but it's not there. This is also the same for additional service for baseball games, buses pulled off other lines to fill schedule, the (now defunct) three track extra service, etc. As of right now, CTA does not have these runs set up to communicate any data to the server to make any predictions.

A driver can put the CD in manual mode by entering their run number originally as 999 into the system, which then kicks it into manual mode....at which point they then enter their "assigned" run number. Sometimes drivers forget this concept and enter the 999 twice...and that would explain why you sometimes see buses running around displaying P999 K999 F999 A999 1999 6999 7999. U get the picture... The system will then allow the operator to select a route number, at which point they are given the different possible route variations currently available for that route. Some routes have only 2 or 3 variations (like 90N), some have quite a few. For example, route 147 would have:

Rt 147:

HOWARD STA- CONGRESS+MICH

CONGRESS- MICH+ HOWARD STA

RANDOLPH+MICH- DEVON+BROADWAY

DEVON+BROADWAY- BALBO+MICH

(and so on and such forth)

I'm sure most of you have gotten a good look at the CD screen on the bus, but if I can remember to get a pic to better illustrate I will post it later this week.

Now imagine what 12 cubs runs on the 152 going down the street after game break would look like.... :P

We have 8 extra runs on Lincoln. 7 of them are one way trippers. (runs 102-108) They work from Addison to Jackson/Wells. After Jackson, you continue south on Wells to Congress, go west on Congress (Eisenhower Expressway) to Independence Blvd, then continue west to Pulaski and north on Pulaski to the Garage.

The other 1 run (101) goes down to Jackson, then turns around and make a trip North to Fullerton (via Lincoln, Webster, Sheffield, Fullerton) then does a 2nd southbound trip to Jackson and pulls in as mentioned above.

And as 44499_fg stated, we run in manual mode on the clever device which makes them not trackable on bustracker

If these so called "clever devices" are so clever, why is it then that these trips

become ghost buses, rather than be seen ??? Is it not the intent of a system

such as bustracker to track all buses, no matter where they are from (garage) ????

It's not like these buses are not equipped. Makes no sense to put so much

money into a system, then look for ways not to use it, making it a big

(what I contend) waste of money and resources to have it to start with !!!!

Well, let me refrain from that comment...I realized after the fact that I forgot the most important word was "Un-" . I was referring to the "Un-Clever Device". Sorry, my mistake. :P

But the alleged reason is because these runs are not in the system, therefore it doesn't generate any information. I do agree with you that it should still be able to track a bus present on a route, regardless if it should be there or not. Time will tell I guess...
