Kevin
As the 6000 Series Flxibles go through their mid-life rehab, it appears that the CTA is now using the new circular logo as it repaints the rest of the buses. Here's a (crappy) cameraphone picture taken last Friday at the 35/Archer Orange Line station. The bus was on the #48 South Damen route and also had an LED destination sign in the front. It's assumed that CTA will begin using the new logo on any future bus repainting.

Are all the 6000's getting the *special* treatment. Or are the newer 6000's getting them or the old ones. Im seeing a dramatic increase in LED destination signs so im guessing both........ Kevin
All 6000s should have LED signs and a fresh coat of paint by later this year. However, since a good number of 6000s had already been repainted with the old logo, not all will have the circular logo.
cta6085
Did 103rd Garage Get Their 6000's With The LED And The New Logo Yet?
Bus Repairman
WOW ! I been working on buses for CTA for 21 years and cant believe I dont pay attention to the details. If its not on the engine, under the bus, or inside a comaprtment somewhere, then im lost We have been getting the 6000's litlte by little for about 2 years now. The older rehabs dont have the logo. The newer ones we are getting do have them. Also, on a small note...... The 6000's have a much better engine. The Detroits are a V-6, and the Cummins are an Inline 4 cylinder. The Cummins have much more power than the Detroits. Im gonna have to take a good look at the outside of these buses tomorrow. :D

Im seeing a dramatic increase in LED destination signs so im guessing both........ CTA 6000s I operated the 6000s when they were brand new out of Kedzie. I remember saying to myself "What a monster!" they traded the 5300s to Kedzie. These are probably the toughest monsters on the street. The engines, the rims, the overall look makes it a bus to be reckoned with. The 6000s are just tough monsters! I feel so proud to have operated them. I remember a few years ago seeing 6063 with the 5300 series painted grey wheels, front and rear! It was very unusual. With the retirement of the 5300s could it be possible that the 6000s will be around for a very long time? The parts from the 5300s could have the 6000s running for a long time. Lets hope that happens! Long live the 6000s!! (rapid transit cars too!!) I also operated 6128 when it was painted in the experimental,I call it the "Mad Max" striping. Because the stripes resembled the Mad Max yellow police Intrceptor. For those of you who know the movie!
rmadisonwi
Speaking of Kedzie's 6000s, soon (if not already), they'll all be gone, shipped off to 103rd and Forest Glen.

trainman8119
The 6000s are going to 103rd this weekend in exchange for their TMCs. This has begun, as 6017, which was a Kedzie bus, was on one of the 103rd garage routes on the south side this afternoon. Saw it going south on Lake Park around 3:15pm. Saw it from the train, couldn't tell the exact route number though.
rmadisonwi
103rd is not losing all of the garage's TMCs, nor is it losing half. The fleet went from 120 to 105, with an equal increase in the number of 6000s.

Guest
6005,6006 & 6010 Were Sighted At 103rd Garage Amazing, the new logos how quickly theyre dissappearing as fast as they are being applied to the rebuilt Flxibles. Has anyone noticed how fast the logos are fading on the buses? Theyre some already at FG that are completely erased.
