BusHunter
Here are the dates the #1000 series buses hit the street (delivery dates) and on what route. Also I have included dates buses were sent from NF to CTA. Also I'm working on the lifetime assignments, but I'll share what I have so far. So let's start with the delivery dates. jajuan
I just did more of a quick glance so far. I didn't see 1432 in there.at first glance. Maybe I overlooked. I apologize ahead of time if i did. But still bravo for the time and effort in putting together and sharing this list with us of where 1000+ buses initially went before the shifts back and forth to the current mix and blending of fleet numbers we have today. Thumbs up from me also.
BusHunter
I also can post a #4000 articulated bus list. I already put up a #500's assignment list, but it needs a little updating to get to the current date just look for the topic under CTA bus. I'll see if I can get these updated soon. I also recently changed around the #6400's list to reflect them in numerical order. I want to be able to put up a retirement list for them in real time when they get retired (like the #2200's) as opposed to printing stuff up repeatedly. Also the #500's delivery street list is in numerical order. I want to show retirements there like the #6400's also. Then i'm working on getting a #2600's list going. So much work, so little time, but it will be something to enjoy for years to come for transit enthusiasts. BTW, as far as #1432, it should be there, I'll see if i can find it. ctrabs74
Excellent job so far. I realize it's a work in progress, but do you happen to have the delivery/street date list for the 1300-1400s assigned to 103rd?

They didn't start the even/odds until #1430.
busfan2847
The 1000 in service now is a 2006 (6B031602) bus delivered after 1429 and before 1430 and not the original one displayed at Navy Pier in 2005 (5B028549) which went back to New Flyer. That would explain why the seats were changed from half Insight seats to all Insight seats. That I don't understand... why was the original 1000 returned back to New Flyer and another was made and delivered later? It doesn't make sense. They could've just changed the seating to all one type design in the prototype, couldn't they?

In that each bus contract seems to call for a prototype that isn't used, that doesn't seem different. The Nova contract now seems the same. As usual I would ask for the source of the VIN, but it seems that some on the internet have that access.
sw4400
I looked at the delivery lists from the Ohio Museum of Transportation for Flxible Metros and this is what I found for them... Link 1st Generation Flxible Metro: LD101033 40102-6T Chicago Transit Authority Prototype 5300 2/90 MD102075-MD102514 40102-6T Chicago Transit Authority 5301-5740 6/91 MD102515-MD102519 40102-6TL Chicago Transit Authority 5741-5745 10/91 MD102520-MD102539 40102-6TC Chicago Transit Authority 5746-5765 10/91 MD102945-MD102949 40102-6T Chicago Transit Authority 5766-5769 10/91 2nd Generation Flxible Metro: RD105007 40102-4D Chicago Transit Authority Prototype 6000 7/94 SD105743-SD105817 40102-?? Chicago Transit Authority 6230-6329 6/95 In both these delivery lists, both 5300 and 6000 are mentioned as prototypes, but in the subsequent delivery lists, the orders begin with 5301 and 6001 respectively. Does that mean that 5300 and 6000, those prototypes, were the 5300 and 6000 that was rolling throughout Chicago for the entire length of their service lives? That's what confuses me about 1000 coming to Chicago with the two seat designs for media photo-ops, then returning to New Flyer to come back later. I always presumed it was this 1000 rolling throughout Chicago since it came back in 2006, just with all the same seating arrangements. Busjack
I looked at the delivery lists from the Ohio Museum of Transportation for Flxible Metros ... If you look at their RTS 08 delivery list [ignoring the 9000s. which were SMART. not CTA), there are 4 buses before you get to 4401. Other lists seemed to indicate that some of those were numbered 4400 other than the one mentioned there. Also note that 4401 was supposedly built first. There was also the discussion about various white buses stored at the training center. busfan2847 said that "The White Flxible, Nova and the RTS are engineering prototype vehicles delivered to the cta before the fleet deliveries and have never been in the active roster (there were two prototype Novas)." Of course, I would defer to members buslist and busfan2847 with regard to this.

For the 5300 the chassis numbers are correct, the fleet numbers are not. The blocks are 5300-5739, 5740-4, 5745-64 & 5765-9. There were two 5300. LD101033 was a mechanical training bus and was not used in service. 6000 (RD105007) was the one that was in service. A mechanical trainer was not necessary as essentially it was the same design as the 5300 series.

It is the third time cta has used the fleet number 1104. 1) 1927 Twin Coach 40 ex Chicago Railways 4 2) 1972 GM T8H-5307A 3) 2006 New Flyer D40LF

For instance, a Rochester NY list has 701s (II). That list is out of date, since 701s are now Gilligs, and thus would be 701 (III).
Busjack
What about the 4400s TMC? I remember when I rode like #4403/ or 04, I closely looked at the manufactured sticker upper driver seat and it was an 1989 model. Strangely, the OMT list supports that, based on VINs. Usually the first letter or digit indicates the year, and through 4414 have K, while the next bunch have L.

This may have been the prototype or mechanical trainer as I believe there were news reports back in early 90's that said the prototype was going to all garages to gauge input. The same must be true with #500 as the prototype on here http://chicagobus.org/buses/500 is dated June 2006 and I have a #500 in service on 11/27/07 on the what's left for #500's/delivery dates in service dates/retirements thread

Looked to have heavy damage in the rear. That's interesting news... hopefully RJL6000 or BusHunter can shed some light on this. 1305 sitting in the junkyard with scrapped NOVA LFS buses and the New Flyer Hydrogen 5900's sounds like it might be gone for good. If 1482 is gone, I look for it to be at the location where the gut rehabs for the 630 D40LF's(1000-1629) will be done, possibly returning to the road maybe by the end of July.
