Even the operator on a 6 Jackson Park Express was looking confused when he saw the artic on the 3. An artic being loaned to a route that doesn’t operate artics is a bit random. All artics on 3 are operated out of 103rd with run numbers 1371-1379 obviously with 103rd operators. This event happened yesterday too, these are extra buses to serve downtown to McCormick place. Also, Kedzie was serving the 128 yesterday. 2 hours ago, 79th to Ford city said: 4005 and 4184 was on the 3 today 2 hours ago, 79th to Ford city said: I meant yesterday Read above and please stop posting unnecessary info 1 Quote

Bus1807 Posted October 10 Report Posted October 10 #4053 was on the 3 for this weekend's marathon expo I believe. Quote

Artics usually don't get pulled out for marathons cause so many buses get cut off and rail handles thru traffic. For some reason someone pulled one out on 39 of all places during the marathon years back lmao 1 Quote

YoungBusLover Posted October 10 Report Posted October 10 There were several Artics out this morning starting trips from 95th heading downtown. Only a few runs headed back south while the rest did trips from 24th/King Dr to Michigan/Walton. I saw at least 5 total this morning. The rest of the runs have been #8350s for this afternoon outside of #4053. What's weird is 103rd is using 74th run numbers for these special events which is weird. Quote

Is it possible that artics were needed but only 74th drivers that happened to have artic training from somewhere else were available? I feel like years back something similar to this was pointed out with extra Navy Pier service 1 Quote

There are 74th operators actually driving those artics, I saw an older 74th operator operate #4326 on the 3 earlier Quote

Sorta dumb question here but, is that why the 206 is shared with north park or is it only shared with north park because of school trips? Quote

It seems to be only FG, and its only purpose is to cover ETHS, so even tough it is a public route, it essentially is only school trips. Quote

North park handles the school trips out there hence why they run artics before they turn into a 147/22 or wtv else Quote

I’ve also noticed north park starts their early morning trips on the 206 with block id 206 and then switches to the 147 with block id 206. #8844 and #4386 have done this before. But that’s all I’m gonna mention because this is a thread for 4000 series artics only. Quote

Must be a lot of students coming from north Evanston. Quote

Any remaining route shares outside of 49 and 151 are school trippers and usually because the main garage doesn't house artics that can handle the crowds. A near by artic garage does the school trip while also reducing the deadhead on the way to downtown getting into position for it's downtown trip (82 to Congress then downtown becoming a 136, K artics on 62 usually go to 134, 143 etc, 152s becoming NP LSD). 49 is would be lopsided if not shared plus too big for 6 or P to take on. 151 Belmont runs couldn't be relieved by NP which is why they still have a few runs but those should at some point be a rush only thing no reliefs involved. I'm not sure if C still helps with 12 and K with 66. If so it's an AM work balance arrangement Quote

Kinda late but NP Shares 206 with forest Glen Does A School Trip From Evanston Then Turns into a 22 or 147 When it arrives at Howard Done It plenty of times here’s an example 1 Quote
Bus1807 Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago Does anyone know if #4199 retired? It was last seen on the 36 a couple months ago. Quote
