This kind of explains why K was short 40 foot buses and started running so many artics for a while on runs that typically would almost always be a 40 foot run. It got a bit better for them when they got some 8700s to go with those 8350s they already had. But there are still some times when we might see them rolling artics out in some odd places.

Yea i seen that once seen a artic on the 7 like tf

I guess a bus is a bus.  I remember my first ride on the 500 series Optimus was on the 36 Broadway,  a route that had no business with those buses.  Needless to say it was crazy crammed .

I also have seen an article on the 7 and had the same reaction.   But I will take a bus that's too big or too small ( provided I can get on it) rather than no bus at all.

103rd used to be guilty of that when they'd have a lot of artics too lol. Showing up on 95E, 111, 95W just like K with 52, 126 etc

Those routes do make some sense as they serve high dchools..  111 served Morgan Park and Gwendolyn Brooks.  The 126 serves Christ the King, Crane, and Whitney Young.

Yeah. Run 1311 (the 6am 95E) was an interline with 108 to Carver back in 2013. The fact that the garages that run those routes have a bit more flexibility with those artics outside of peak times make these sighting seem a bit more random I guess lol

I remember I seen a 500 on the 85 back in 08 on central & Bloomingdale going to Harrison like tf that bus doing there but it was 2 noavs close right behind it 🤣🤣

Dam yea they use to be gotta cottage when 7 had em & even been on the 3 now one day I think a driver who did the 43 just took a artic cause they wanted to cause in 21 I think it was a artic was on the 43 now that route never has a full bus after the green line that shit runs empty to root mainly

To see an artic on 43 is insane!! 🤣🤣 I remember when Archer Garage was in service they would run 500 series buses on 43 and the U of C routes 170-173. I never understood the logic of those short buses especially when they were interlined with a busier route like a 36 or 85.

When 7 had artics, 8A and 24 may  have used artics for school 🏫 trippers but using them for full runs would be nutty and diabolical now since 7 no longer run artics on its routes. K and A had been known to run an artic on 39 on full runs and school 🏫 trippers. But having an artic run on the 55 is crazy considering 6 never had them at all. Not to say they couldn't have used them because they have moderate to heavy ridership routes 9, X9, 49, X49, 55, 62, 63 and 94.

But the N5, come on. Maybe 1 trip that was interlined with an EB 95 at best going to 69th Red Line and then to the garage. But not all night! 🤣🤣

Yeah it was an early run. The 55 artic was a fill in from 103rd. What I was getting at is K and 103rd have so many that they tend to use them during times that wouldn't make sense. Lol Weekends, off peak etc.
