Interesting. Will departures for scrapping or any other reason begin soon (since there are so many retired units)?

There hasn’t been any bid nor any scrap sales lately. CTA nowadays just procrastinates to sell its buses for scrap as half of the 1000s would of been scrapped already

#1863 sounds horrible and all the signs are dead on the outside, the interior display showing the next stops is still working. The lights in this are nearly as dim as #1263 too. I wouldn’t be surprised if #1863 makes it to the end of the year considering #1788 is STILL active two years after I posted this message when it was in awful condition.

if its missing those good sign its done.

Unless it's like 1863 which was missing a farebox then suddenly came back like 2 weeks later. 1669 lost its engine panel and it was officially written off so 1910 is not the first one.

BTW I was on 1788 this weekend and this bus was pouring SO much water out of the lights. Half the seats in the back section was wet with this unknown liquid. No loud air conditioner was running at the time the photos and the attached video was taken. This bus was pulled off Skokie on Saturday around 3 o clock but it's back out today, on busy Broadway so I hope whatever this issue was is fixed. Not sure if it's a fire hazard or something but this definitely does not look right.image.thumb.png.d46dac6ea068eb3868b97c2e3e58b1ae.png image.thumb.png.8aa20b06ea29486f33a40caff72bbc57.png

The retirement process has slowed down very quickly and the last approx. 55 units are still active with retirements very slowly happening, maybe once or twice a month at most. Looking at any updates with active units MIA:

1803 is still on hold at SS, 1683 hasn't run since 4/22, 1783 hasn't run since 4/23, 1932 has not returned to service yet, 1653 is supposedly still on hold at FG, 1915 hasn't run since 4/18, and 2001 hasn't run since 4/22.

atp i'm not even sure if 1630 is still in active service, if it is it's not tracking

With retirements being done at a reallly slow late now, some more buses are MIA and last seen on SS-X0X blocks:

1793 last run 5/7/26 SS block, 1853 last run 5/18/26 SS block, 1865 last run today SS block, 1950 last run 5/13, 1975 last run 5/15.

Aw it’s sad to see 1865 go, that’s the bus I’ve rode on the most out of all my cta bus commutes.

none of the north park units have returned to service. both of the allison's are back in service tho.

1863 might have finally bit the dust, last ran 5/20.

1688 last ran 5/19, 1673 last ran 5/22, 1724 last ran 5/22

it seems Like North park is ready to dump a few more units

#1853 i believe is done bc of the rust spot

#1865 i wouldnt be surprised if thats done

#1863 ended up at SS on a SS block today

In June #1860 and #1762 did not operate

Im not sure what else is done especially considering #1803 did not operate at all during spring pick i believe atp 1803 is done

#1863 is set to return with a brand new promotional wrap. #1853 and #1865 are still on the active roster. #1860 is at FG currently for maintenance. #1762 is currently getting held at NP for inspection it may return soon.

#1663 and #1863 are the only buses that have been retired so far this month. #1803 is still on the active roster awaiting maintenance at SS.  #1081, #1083, and #1230 might be on the chopping block for LTH/300. #1083 is in very bad shape inside and out. #1234 is awaiting maintenance last time I checked the rosters. Current active #1000s remaining in service is currently 609. That number may increase once the next 10 - 15 flyers return from maintenance VIA SS or there home garages.

That means #1673 got retired in May. I saw #1863 was used for the Pokémon festival with the wrap and they ended up retiring it after they did that video. Looks like #1853 and #1865 are set to return

The 600 Novas were announced as replacing 500 NFs. Seems like about 75 more than that around. Is CTA that short of operable buses?
