Hell, they need too with all those damn crappy lights... B)

Is it possible that artics are getting rehabs too?? I had 4175 today and it had the new clever device in it.

There was something in the budget (5 year capital plan, page 55) about it, but apparently only initial money this year.

Probably just the clever devices and perhaps the LED's. The contract on the rehabs for the D40LF's outsource the work to Cummins N Power and New Flyer Of America for the rehabs. To rehab a DE-model New Flyer of any size, you probably need to include a company that rebuilds Hybrid Powertrains(not that New Flyer doesn't do work on Hybrids, but they would have to outsource the outsourced work if they did it that way). That might be a big reason why the rehab work is for 1,030 New Flyers(just the D40LF's) as opposed to the 1,050 New Flyers(D40LF's and DE40LF's).

Or maybe it has more to do with what Andre had reported within the last few weeks that they ultimately decided the 800s and 900s would just be pulled as they fail though it's not clear if he meant any simple failure or a larger one that called for a repair beyond what could be done at garage level.

Strangely, the specs for the rehabs included the 800s and 4000s,* but a contract was not awarded on them. By stating that "at a time a given IFB is posted," apparently CTA developed one set of specifications for whenever they would be needed.

The main rehab issue seems to be the engine, and a Cummins is a Cummins. Allison undoubtedly has agents, and, as you noted, New Flyer (and Nova, for that matter) know where to get the parts.

Rehabbed: None to report

Getting rehabbed: #1241 #1392 #1411 #1736 #1740 5 unnumbered NF's (opening the garage doors would be helpful maintenance guys!!!!)

Awaiting for rehab: #1674

Questionable for rehab preparation or out of service: #1179 #1678 #1987

Other Notes: Now the rear LED display problems continues with the 1900s rehabs in which #1968 is the victim.
