jtrussel Posted March 16 Report Posted March 16 Since lincolnwood mall will be closing for good at the end of March and will be demolished, where will the 82 terminate at Could it be extended to howard and McCormick share the 11 lincoln terminal or will it terminate at Devon and kedzie like it used to do 1 Quote
sht6131 Posted March 16 Report Posted March 16 Did not know the mall was closing. My opinion is that 82 will go back to Devon and Kedzie. The Howard terminal is too close to the intersection to allow safe turning movements from McCormick into and out of the terminal. Especially out. Quote

Especially out. Wow another mall gone. Pretty sure the default will be Devon BUT if the mall is closing the 82 doesn't have a reason to be on McCormick.... Since 11 parallels 93 and 49B (both of which go to the Brown Line 7 days a week now) maybe 82 could take over the Kedzie portion of the 11 🤔. Quote

It’s under new management and they want to redevelop it to take in a different direction. Harlem Irving Plaza went through a mini revamp to stay open a few years back. Quote

The only thing in the Tribune was that someone closed on the property in February and was going to redevelop it. Didn't say whether to revamp it or demolish it However, other references to Distract 1860 indicate demolition. @trussel, do you have a link? Otherwise, I agree with the above with regard to Devon, plus 96 serves whatever is on McCormick. There would have to be some other reason 82 would have to connect with Touhy, and 210 (which Pace continually tries to cancel) isn't it. Quote

No seen a discussion on tic tok, talks about demolish and making it pretty much residential and maybe a small strip mall 1 Quote

District 1860 is at Touhy & Lincoln & has nothing to do with the failing Lincolnwood Mall. It's where the infamous Purple Hotel used to be. Quote

It's where the infamous Purple Hotel used to be. That was known. The reference was only made because (1) the Tribune made it, and (2) the implication was that the village board wanted something like that for the Town Center site, instead of bringing in Wayfair to the current mall, as @Javi75 implied, without any evidence to support it. But since nothing has been presented to the village board yet, it seems all [SPECULATIVE]. The developer can't demolish anything without a wrecking permit. Quote
Busjack Posted March 25 Report Posted March 25 This is hearsay, but someone told me that she went to a salon there and was told that the tenants were told to clear out by mid April. 2 Quote

Maybe Pace could send the route 290 going westbound down Kedzie to Devon, Devon to McCormick to Touhy and eastbound do the opposite. That’s if there was a lot of ridership transferring from the 82 to the 290. Quote

Pace is not going to put a ~30 minute diversion on 290, which is a trunk route and needs to get workers to and from various industrial areas. I don't think your "if" is there. Quote
TaylorTank1229 Posted April 12 Report Posted April 12 So, Lincolnwood Town Center is set to officially close their doors on Friday, May 1st. https://www.facebook.com/share/1CWxwQpUwp/?mibextid=wwXIfr So this probably has some wondering how this will affect routing for 82, 96 and Pace 210 & 290. 1 Quote

Possibly CTA might go through with the 96 via Kedzie proposal since there's no reason to go via McCormick anymore Quote

If the 290 no longer goes into the place, that will cut at least 8 minutes off of the runs, they'll need new schedules for it. Why they had that bizarre long way into it was always baffling & then they made it even longer by going all the way out to McCormick, instead of back to Touhy. Quote

Ford city is probably on it's way too! Right after they extended the 53 there! I expect the 82 to just always go to devon & kedzie now, but it would be cool if they brought it up to howard & mccormick. Quote
Elkmn Posted April 16 Report Posted April 16 36 minutes ago, Sam92 said: Ford city was never the real reason for 53 so that doesn't really hurt it. 53 basically is to provide the frequency that 53A short turns did while also enabling people to continue up Pulaski without transferring. Ford city was just chosen because they didn't want to do Daley for some reason. I wonder what 210 will end up doing? maybe they'll bring the 210 back down to western brown line. That'd be fantastic! TaylorTank1229 Posted April 24 Report Posted April 24 Believe I bought it up a while ago, but now it’s openly confirmed by official news outlets that Lincolnwood Town Center is starting demolition next month. Additionally stating “the Village of Lincolnwood is working with the Chicago Transit Authority for a temporary relocation of CTA bus operations in the area. Pace buses will also be rerouted.” https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/lincolnwood-town-center-mall-to-be-torn-down/ 1 Quote

If you are implying whether artics can get into the terminal, IDK, but if you are implying that Pace should use it, No. But the Lincolnwood Village Board didn't say where the relocated bus stops would be (nor what would be in the 175,000square foot store). I was saying I can see Lincolnwood needing to work with Pace about this issue because unlike CTA which has Devon/Kedzie to fall back on, Pace doesn't have anything. So them mentioning having to work with CTA about bus operations made me wonder if the #82 frequencies became too frequent in the day time to send them all to that terminal? I know on the southern end 53 being extended cleared space at Komesky for the 82 full time Quote

That would only leave the 210 for Pace which could suffer another truncation. But since this is a CTA topic, perhaps Devon/Kedzie is sufficient for the 82 and the 155 and possibly the 96. 1 Quote

I'm not concerned about pace I know thier situation lol. I guess I should say this another way...since Devon/Kedzie exists and was the #82's original terminal, why do they need to even talk to CTA (who simply just has to reroute #82) about this? #82 has always seemed pretty busy and got frequency improvements over the years so I'm wondering them mentioning talks with CTA means not every #82 will fit there during busier parts of the day? I think you misconstrued the Lincolnwood Village announcement. It said nothing about Pace talking with CTA It was each talking with the Village about what stop each will use. If I derive anything from the announcement, Lincolnwood wants 82 still stopping in Lincolnwood, so the village doesn't want the line ending at Devon-Kedzie. It isn't much different than Yorktown saying no layovers there, so the layover was moved, with municipal permission, to Branding-Finlay. Maybe the 82 layover will be moved to somewhere near the now-useless emissions testing center. Quote

When the article said the village is talking to CTA, it didn't make sense on why CTA would need a temporary arrangement for 82 with the instead of just using Devon/Kedzie. But since you say it's the village that doesn't want that "cutback" there's something over there worth keeping service as well as them wanting #82 to serve whatever replaces Lincolnwood? Quote
