The January bus swap

I saw 6010 on the 36 about an hour and a half ago...

#6027 was on the #144 yesterday too. Possibly these buses are just loans. Kedzie most likely wouldn't loan them the good stuff. (#1000's) To answer the #5800 question, they are still around yesterday #5816 was on the #144. For some reason they seem to be sticking around.

Saw #1010 on #36 Broadway at 4:17 PM turning from Harrison onto Dearborn headed northbound.

Speaking of 6027, if any of you were spying at the bustracker today...u would of seen it on the 151.

I was driving it!

And before any "certain" individuals ask...I have photographic proof!

From the photo, one can see that the P or K isn't lit in the run box (although one can presume, since you posted, that it was a P run), and I can't see the sticker.

So to assuage others on the board, is it a loaner or a transfer?

Also 1622 was on an afternoon K working on the 129 on Wednesday with a K run number.

Sounds like this was the latest transfer from 103rd. All new buses that come in now at 103rd will force something else to leave. Yesterday alot of the #4000's that came in were released to the street. Were now up to #4049. In fact it was on the #147 along with #4045 with #4043 on the #135. Also for those wondering who gets the even #4000's coming in, #4042 was on the #26. #1000's are up to #1957. Two days ago it was on the #X3 and yesterday it was on #79.

I assure you mr. busjack that i create no stories...I was in front of the bus on the Foster/Albany driveway of North Park Garage, and I was indeed driving it. I wanted to get a photo at the Clark and Arthur terminus, however with the conditions at the time it was a little difficult.

To answer your question, it is apparently a loaner. The reason why I however cannot answer. Perhaps the Flyers are being troublesome? One can only speculate unfortunately. I hate to speculate, but thats all we can work with now, unless someone else has an answer.

Since you raise it, the reason there was no P in the run box is because it was stuck on K, so someone put a paper over it. There was however a K sticker. If I can get a photo of the bus parked in the garage to further back up my claims...then it will also be posted.

No innuendo suggested. I was just saying that since it was a NP driver, it was undoubtedly a P run, even though that didn't show. The other possibility, of course, is that it could have been a Belmont run, but you wouldn't have posted that.

Thanks for your explanation.

BTW, and totally irrelevant: Garage stickers are becoming like bank signs, not good for very long. I wonder if there is a way to invest in the printers of either. <_<

Rode 1628 on 12 Roosevelt when going to work today. I almost asked myself why the engine was louder and the driver shield larger since it was a Kedzie 1600 but remembered it was an Option 2 not Option 3 (or a 1630 as some fans like to call them). Does anyone know what else switched from 103rd to Kedzie besides 1622 and 1628?

Well 1626 can be added to the buses spotted in service for Kedzie formerly at 103rd. It's in service on the 12 Roosevelt today. Also spotted 1226 on the same route today earlier this morning. That's now 3 former 103rd buses and 1 former 77th bus spotted at Kedzie.

If you haven't noticed by now, there has been alot of swapping going on this weekend, mostly with 77th buses. Here's a few #6450 - #6458 are now at Archer again. #1312 is currently running the #20 according to Bustracker. I also spotted #1317 yesterday on the #20. Also 77th has gained some buses #1909 appears on Bustracker for the #79 right now, also #1907 was on yesterday's #6. Then also there are the new #1000's deliveries there. I spotted #1951 on I think the #4. It was making that familier turn at Mich/South Water with no passengers. Strangly enough with a #36 on the destination and no run box on at all. I thought at first it may have been out for a test, but it had a regular operator driving it as opposed to a mechanic. Back to the changes also #6711 - #6709 went back to Fg from Archer where they were lucky if they were there 2 weeks. Also #1432 appears now on the #11 on Bustracker. A chicago run? The only problem is that it was on the #36 yesterday as well. Lastly now 77th has a few #4000's now from 103rd.

yesterday i spotted NF 1179 on the 36 Broadway route

I spotted 1432 on the 146 turning off State onto Lake on Saturday. From 103 to C to NP. No money...have to raise fares. But, can move or loan buses from garage to garage to garage. hmmmmmmm.

Gee whiz...fuel is sooooo expensive, isn't it ????

Diesel is $2 a gallon off its peak.

Maybe the reason is to prove that certain people with the "inside info" about bus deliveries don't have it.

After all, Hilkevitch didn't take my bait about investigating the September 2008 swap.

One would also wonder why the 4400s were retired so much earlier than the 5300s and 5800s? The latter two are sticking around much longer than expected from new New Flyer delivery reports. Possible fleet increase?

I agree with you completey, Trainman. They complain they have no money, but yet, they do all of these transfers.

LOL. That could be .

Who knows.

Possible fleet increase?

If you are construing the Chicago drivers saying 3 track bus runs remain (at least on Lincoln) even though 3 track on the L is done as a fleet increase, yes.

Somehow it seems like the odd/evens stopped at NP a bit early (if one is using remaining 5800s as the standard) and that the swaps are being used because 103 and 77 are getting new buses even though they don't have any high floors to retire.

However, if there is any pattern, trainman would sure agree that it lacks logic.

Agreed...NP should have gotten about 15 more NF's
